Hey Dad,are these NY nana's?

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Miss me Dad?
First you send me to Texas
then I spend the summer in New York
But ya know what
There's no sky scrappers here
So all that talk about how all of New York is a big city is just a fib
and ya know what else
I think they have nanas up here
CC had me sniffing them out and I think I found some....
and some new freinds.....

OMG, that darned monkey really did find the nana's. Bet he was glad to get there and not have to worry about the gators anymore. He found some friends too. Bet the little guy is in heaven.

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Happy Dance!! You got Nanas!! Ya beat me!! They look good sized too!

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

I still find it hard to beleive myself
Especially since I started this sucker from seeds off ebay
this is the one thats suppose to a abasinnian.....(SP?)
guess its not

but I feel better
I'm no longer budless...LOL

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

How old is the plant?

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

3 years.....

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Oh no..........that is so long to wait. I have the dwarf cavendish and the info said 18 months, so I'm hoping.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

yeah but mine is from seed....
not a pup

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

Ya Hooo CC. WTG. How tall is it?

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Its probably 15 foot......
Its gunna be a problem in the GH this year
last year I had it under the peak and every leaf immediatly hit the roof and bent or broke the leaves
It will be leaned over sidways this year

Whitewater, WI

Wow CC, that is really something..... good looking bananas!!!

Now, you will never get rid of the monkeys.... :)

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Yep that dang Monkey sure gets around,he can smell a Nana from states away! He is lucky to get out of Tex. with his tail intact!

Crestview, FL(Zone 7b)

*LOL* too funny.. But a nanner, w/fruit, from seed, in NY, is quite the accomplishment

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

I was wondering if the little guy ever recovered from his traumatic experience when he wrestled the gator! I'm glad to see he found the nanas, but watch him, he will be cutting a little hole in the side to see if they are ripe!

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

did you teach him that????
LOL

Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

lol Congratulations on your nannas CC!! I sure am glad the little man has some friends to hang around with.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

I still wish I knew what kind they are,or if they are going to be edible.......
Those poor monkeys could be drooling over NOTHING!!!

Ellicott City, MD(Zone 7a)

Too cute............love those nana's!! Let us know when they ripen and how they taste.

I'm growing several Dwarf Cavandish nanas. I have them planted in my garden, but how many years before they set fruit......if ever?!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I heard 18 months on the Dwarf Cavandish. I'm sure hoping so anyway. I just want to see a banana bloom.

Ellicott City, MD(Zone 7a)

Well.............they should burst into bloom any second now!!!! (keeping my fingers and toes crossed).

Eureka, CA

Your nannas are awesome. I started 5 absynnians from seed also. They are only a foot tall. I thought they were just ornamentals but you got some fruit-yahoo! I planted mine in the front yard and just hope they make it without a greenhouse. I think they get 25 ft. tall.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Shinney,Every one has pretty much decieded that my nana is NOT abysinian.
when I posted on the id forum it doesn't match the discription and have the growth habits of a Aby
I am just happy I have nanas......
just hoping they're edible .......and they will ripen in the GH

Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

CC How are ya gonna find out if they are edible?? Ya gonna make the monkey eat one 1st?

Ewing, KY(Zone 6a)

I just saw this, wow the monkey is sure getting around. CC your nana looks great.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

It doesn't look too good now
Shirley sent her nasty brug eatting storm out here
all my brugs were on the ground
buds broken off all over and my NANA was laying on the ground
not sure how much damage
hope they survived
With all the rain and storms we've had they have stayed standing
till now.....

Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

Im so sorry Karyn! Stay safe!

Marshfield, MO(Zone 6a)

Yea! Goober made it to New York, and found some friends there!!!!!!!!
