I am in the process of harvesting lemon basil & sweet basil seeds. Not real sure if I'm doing this right, but if I do succeed, I should have some to share. Anyone here know how to harvest these? I waited for the spikes with flowers to dry a little, clipped them and put them in a brown paper bag.

Kingston, GA(Zone 7b)

I have Purple basil (shiso perilla) plants running out my ears. lolol But I have never tried collecting the seeds. I will be more than happy to send you some if you can tell me how to collect the seeds. Or I can send you some small starter plants. I would love to have some Jap. Moon flower red if you should have some extra.

Judsonia, AR(Zone 7b)

Perilla isn't basil, I have that too. or at least I don't think it is, some one correct me here, it's also called beefsteak plant. Looks like the purple ruffle basil, but does't smell like basil at all. It's highly invasive, reseeding every year. been trying to get rid of mine for years. LOL

Is there a picture of the purple basil somewhere? I went to a nursery and rubbed a leaf and tried to remember the smell and of course by the time I got home could not tell if the stuff I have is the same. Has a good smell. but doesn't make it basil.
LMK I could send a plant. If I could figure out if it is basil. They are not making seeds yet.

I was watching a gardening show,
they were talking about types of
basil, the name of a blue/lavender one
was called amethist. I plan to obtain
one of those next spring, they looked
spectacular!!! If anyone has seeds Please..
I would love some.
