I got this tissue cultured banana off Ebay as mixed kinds.Anyone know the variety? It's not Rojo or Zebrina..notice the undersides are silver /white, not red like those kinds. ?????
Any ideas??
Hmmm.......not sure Kyle, but if you send it to Texas, I will take it around to nurseries down here and see if they know what it is!
Certainly not an authority, but what about Musa acuminata var. sumatrana

Sumatrana has red undersides.......well we will keep looking.......Cala in your dreams!! LOL It has a pup already on the base and the plant is only 11 inches tall now! I got 4 different plants(bananas) off Ebay at $2.40 each for TC. Plants.
Cool looking nana, Kyle.
Kyle, keep us posted on how this one grows, its very interesting to see if the white hold up,or it turns color with age.
Aaaw Kyle, I was just tryin to be helpful ya know! I need to go to eBay more often cause y'all get some cool stuff over there.
Cala, you may have the first pup when it's ready..how's that?? :-)
Larry, I don't remember,do a search for bananas at ebays home and garden thread. They had over 400 pots available when I got these. Nice plants...all were tissue cultured. :-)
Thanks Kyle! Now to find something you don't already have...................(I found a place that has Kapok trees yesterday, have you seen those?)
Cala. we had a huge one at work had to be cut out it got up to the 75 foot level and was going to go thru the glass panels! :-)
Yikes! Thats a big tree. It must have been old. I think this one will go farther away from the house then!
How do you keep the tissue culture plants alive. I got 10 different varities of elephant ears last year and not a one lived for the year.Do you grow them in pots first when you get them. Of couse the hail storm when they were pups did not help any. LOL
