I just recieved this rare wonder today. A 3 foot tall division of Strelitzia Parvifolia Juncea..the rred leafed Bird of Paradise.Came from a grower in Calif. It's new home is this 2gallon pot.Has no leaf blades like others in the past. :-)
The Holy Grail of tropicals..
Wow Kyle, that's cool!
I just found this in the PDB Kyle. http://davesgarden.com/pdb/showimage/2825/
Very, very cool plant. Will it bloom this year or next for you?
I've got a S. juncea. It is pretty cool looking. Mine's about the same size as yours. I've only had it since the spring. They supposedly get pretty tall.
Okay Kyle I'm going to take your word on this one! :)
7 foot tall spikes. Is there another plant that does that? For the foliage alone it's worth growing. What kind of care does it need?
Same as other Bird of paradise..just a little drier between waterings.
Whats your address again???LOL!
LOL Don!! Kyle that is very striking foliage.
Kyle, what is the name of the black leafed dahlia? I love maroon/black foliage!!
OMGosh is that Bishop of Landaff Dahlia in the background of your pic??? Its gorgeous!!! Like we should be surprised!
I grew the Dahlia from seed..its a mix from Park seed co. called "Bishops Children"This is the darkest prettiest one of the whole package. I will dig and carry over the tubers of this plant this fall. :-)
too kewl!! Like the foilage or lack of..
Thanks, Park's is on my fall shopping list, I am doing lots of seeds this year!
Wow Kyle! Thats really neat!!
