Carol, what do you know about H. diversifolia B I think I have one of those big leaf monsters, I also think it may go under a different handle now? Norma

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

There seems to have been a long history of that, Norma...I will try to find my notes and post them on a new thread...

Jackson, GA

Hi Norma,
I got a Hoya from Bob Smoley labeled H. diversifolia, which is nothing like the real diversifolia. The BS plant has BIG roundish, succulent type of leaves.
(it is in the greenhouse so I can give a better descritption later, it seems it has some silver flecking and prominant veins. I think I recall Gemila posting on this subject on GW & maybe MSN a long while back about a Bob S. plant)
If my memory is correct I think H. diversifolia B may be the real Hoya latifolia., which fits the description of my BS so called H. diversifolia.

Good to see you here Carol

Hey, David -

So, why IS your archboldiana dropping leaves? How often do you water? Is it warm? What color are the leaves when they drop?...clues, please?

Dennisport, MA(Zone 5a)

not sure why, but maby to much plant food? turn yellow. I have 8 leaves..just cant keep new leaves as the come out...just drop off...only Hoya plant i have trouble with.

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

Have you checked the roots? Healthy? Did it ever get too dry and then watered so that perhaps the roots rotted?

Does she stay warm? H. archboldiana thrives in WARM?

Too much water with the soil not draining well? I find yellowing leaves often a "water' problem.

Oh dear.

Have you tried repotting? Taking it out of the present soil into a "fresh start"?

What do yu fertilize with?

Valley Village, CA

I'll repeat what I have been told about dropping leaves, " too much water. " Norma

Good advice, Norma!!!

Dennisport, MA(Zone 5a)

Thank you people for the imformation..... :)

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

I know your weather doesn't allow a lot of WARMTH...but often just putting H. archboldiana at the highest point in the room will give it the warmth it needs...I got an 'archie' to root that way....found the highest point in my greenhouse!!!

Carol, that is what they do in England. They also use hay bales around the greenhouse, A light bulb 300 W (plug it in) may also provide the difference if warmth is needed. They also fill up 1 gal water plastic bottles, that have been in the sun all day, for some reason this keeps in the heat as well, through the night. These I saw stacked outside of the green house. There is new green house bubble wrap, and aluminum wrap that reflects the light, all sorts of things out there now. I use plastic roofing on the walls to keep the heat in.

I also have a list of nurseries to get the special Sedums for instance the Scottish Rock Garden Club. Did any of you know that there is a Sedum journal put out by Ray Stevenson of England, I think the cost is $20.00 a year, but joining our forum is cheaper. I would give my eye teeth for a S. cyaneum, it is a choice species. Keep tuned in for more information. Norma

It's just great to see this list growing, and each of you helping the other. Lets keep it that way. You are all a nice bunch of Hoya Growers. Norma

Valley Village, CA

Keep looking here for information on Hoya plant, and if it isn't enough information, do a Goggle search. How about the rest of you sharing URL with this lady, information is out there if you know how to find it.

I think that would be a real service to us all. Norma

Norma, Do you know how I could subscribe to this Sedum journal? would I have to join the garden club? If so how? Thanks, Mary(Binky)

Long Beach, CA

Corky59......did you spell that wrong, or did you really mean "HOSTAS". If so, you are on the wrong list....this is a "HOYA" list. However, I think EVERYTHING grows well in Florida, doesn't it? ;-)
