how long do brug seeds last???

Jackson, SC(Zone 8a)

i found some today in a box that has been packed up in the storage shed for ever. these are from a mixed bag of seeds dated back a few years ago. do i try my luck with them or just throw them away?? the best i can make out on the pack is something about a butterfly.

then can i just plant them water them and hope for the best or do i have to do something special with them. thanks Marie

You are only out a pot of soil. I'd soak for a couple of days and plant. Nothing to lose. Butterfly has made some pretty babies.

I wouls peel them to mak sure there was something in teh coat so i wasn't waiting for nothing, then put in some soil and just see

Good idea Amanda. I think it pays to peel old seeds just to make sure it still contains the little bean seed and the worms didn't get it.

these are in a baggie so i guess i will take everyone advice soak them peel them and see whay happens. Like Brugie said i am only out a pot of dirt if nothing happens.

keeping fingers crossed though for a baby.

On the seed after you peel them, some are a light colored bean and some are dark...does this make a difference in viability of the seed?

peel em soak em overnight and plant em with bottom heat...I have had some from as long as 8-10 years sprout..but very few sprouted. :-)
