Grew these last year too, wondering the true name I should be calling it. Thanks!

Tonny? can you ID this one?
Laurrie, that is D. wrightii and the shape comes very close to the type flower described by the now late Eduard Regel of Germany . If memory serves me good, Regel recieved his seeds from Asa Grey, that wrote "Flora of America" The flowers looks enormous :) How long are they? I grew out a sample once collected in Tx, that had 26 cm long flowers and they looked very close to your flowers. It is a pretty and very clear bluish color as well :)
Beautiful blooms, OhioBreezy.
That is so pretty...love the color!
Thanks all I sure do love this one.
Tonny, the bloom measures 7 inches across the bloom, and nearly10 inches from base of the bloom to tip top, hope this helps you imagine how big it is!! Thanks for the ID, we have puppies here (black labs) and they played havoc in the gardens before I got mean and got them locked up LOL, anyway, they ate some of my tags!! Thanks again for the "story" as well.

That is beautiful!!!
very beautiful.
I sware! Just when I think I possibly couldnt find anything else I could ever need... along comes a pic like this! Beautiful Laurrie!!
so pretty! I think I will go to bed and dream about this one! Night all!
Thanks everyone, I guess I just have to settle with Dat's because I just can't seem to do well with Brugs LOL, no really, I have 2 brugs: Isabella (she is little yet about 2 feet tall) and another golly I don't remember the name of!! It is nearly 4-1/2 feet tall, no clue if I will get blooms before I have to dig and pot up for winter, so for now I have to enjoy the Dats, but with one as pretty as this one, I should be ok.
Tonny, you are the giver of the seed of this one!!! :) and thanks again for the quick ID
Happy growing everyone
Laurrie
