Greetings & Salutations!

Clinton, MO(Zone 6a)

What an incredible site! I have just spent the last 3 hours wandering around in it, and now I've stayed up WAY past my bedtime!
I'm a newbie, both to this site and to gardening in general. I have read about gardening all my life, but never got the chance to actually DO any. I just bought a 100 year old Gothic Victorian house with about half an acre of land. It has an already established garden, and when I say "established" I mean the whole lot has been planted with hundreds of plants (I counted at least 40 roses alone!) and was Garden of the Year at the last Garden Tour!
NOW what do I do!
I can use just about any help I can get, and from what I've seen tonight, this is the place to get it!
Thanking you all in advance for the help I know I need,
D Cooper

Welcome!! (I am on my way to bed after staying here far to long tonight too!)

I live in a Victorian too but rebuilding the garden and since you have inherited a garden, check out the heirloom and rose forums. Lots a help in both.

Hi D,
Welcome to the garden, from a fellow newbie. This site is addictive, isn't it? It'll be particularly time-consuming during the winter, I'll bet. Sounds like you made a great purchase. If you have the capability, we'd love to see some photos sometime! All the best,
Shannon

Hi D. Cooper. I'm just a neighbor to the north anxious to see pictures of your new place. Must be overwhelming to move to a place that has so much stuff to work with. Hope you continue to enjoy your time in Daves Garden. Speaking quietly here so my DH doesn't hear me.....I spend way to much time here..but I won't tell him that.

Wow, Deee a garden worthy of garen tour right in your hands. Now that's an awesome challenge. On the roses, check your blooms against pics and names here. That's a start. And we have a great crew to answer "what is this" questions. And no end of info on what to feed or not. !;>)

Welcome to Dave's Garden, D Cooper, do folks call you 'Coop' like they did Gary?

Clinton, MO(Zone 6a)

Hi to everyone, and thank you for the warm welcome!

roadrunner,
'Lucky' is very much in the eye of the beholder, and my eyesight changes from day-to-day, depending on how intimidated I am feeling at any given moment (pretty much all of the time right now)! I notice you didn't define that 'luck' as 'good' or 'bad'!

BloomsWithaView,
I have been called 'Cooper', 'Coop', 'Hey YOU', and several other less mentionable things, but mostly just 'D'. NOBODY calls me 'Dorothy' unless they can run really fast - having been raised in Kansas, I am allergic to the full version of my name, also to 'little dog Toto' jokes, etc. However, I have been given to understand that I bear a very close resemblance to the 'Wicked Witch of the West'! (Hmm… I wonder… 'melted' or 'unmelted')?!?

Thanks again, y'all!
D

LOL Dee, I have a girlfriend of the unmentionable name who was born in SDak but on the windy rolling plains like Kansas - she has *all* the Oz books, calls her dog Munchkin [thereby avoiding the Toto curse] and uses the full D..y at all times....
We're a funny bunch all in all - us humans.

I'm guilty of using a part of that one "...and your little dog too!..." LOL

Do you have a digi camera? I have a real thing for Victorian houses... somewhere there's a thread on our homes. Please share with a 'before' you do anything to the gardens so we can go along with you. ~again~ welcome ~Blooms
