Ornamental Sweet Potato, Sweet Potato Vine 'Sweet Carolina Bronze' (Ipomoea bata

Ohhh a bronze one! I only have the lime and black one, now where did you find this one?

Hiya Sue -

Can't remember for sure, but I got it either at Alden Lane (Livermore) or Orchard's of Lafayette. It's a lot less vigorous than the normal black and chartreuse cultivars. Don't think I'd spend a lot of time tracking it down, unless you just gotta have it! Doesn't like very much sun and is slow to recover from that afternoon wilt thing we get here in the hot summer months.

Saw that Alden Lane nursery online, looks interesting. We are always over that way for wine tasting, in fact have to get over there to pick up a wine club order. Is it worth stopping in?

Allow a good amount of time......it's a real treasure of a nursery. Parklike setting with huge old oak trees and lots of "garden art" ideas. It's a long drive for me, but I've never been disappointed.

Thanks, I am there! Always love checking out new nurseries. Only about 45 min. drive for us.

Happenstance,

I'm not sure if this is the same or different than Ornamental Sweet Potato, Sweet Potato Vine 'Sweet Carolina Bronze' Ipomoea batatas that you show here.

What I have is called Ornamental Sweet Potato, Sweet Potato Vine 'Sweet Carolina Red
Ipomoea batatas and it seems to tolerate the heat and grow vigorously. It's shown with Sedona -Coleus

I'm a newbie to gardening..( see my diary )
