I have three trades of 6 seeds each. This is the regular orange BOP, gets about 5 ft tall. I will trade for ginger or banana seeds.
Have Bird of Paradise seeds
I am interested.
I have white calla lily and Arum Italicum seeds for trade.
Calalilly:
How/when/where do you collect BOP seeds? This is the first year ours have bloomed and each plant has one blossom right now. I would love to know how to get the seeds. Also, I have lots of bananas; this is the first year we've actually had fruit; how/where do you get the seeds from the banana trees? We have lots of "babies" popping up around the "parents," but I don't know if I've ever seen a seed. I could see if any of them our small enough to send. Our ginger hasn't flowered yet; so can't help you there. Sorry.
I have several types of bananas trees you might be interested in. I would love to trade for some of your bird of paradise seeds. let me know if you would like to do a trade ! thanks !

Slinkyman the BOP will make a pod after it blooms, it's right at the back of the flower where it attaches to the stem. It will grow to the size of a walnut and when it's ripe, it turns light brown and shriveled. I just pop it open, pick off the fuzzy orange stuff and the black seeds look a bit like canna seeds.
Banana seeds will be in the fruit of the banana. The commercial varieties don't make viable seeds, but have instead little black flecks where the seed should be. Ornamental bananas make seeds, they are black and about the size of a bb and are inside the fruit. Some edible bananas make seeds too.
Mare, forgot to add......these are only seeds, I would feel guilty taking your plants for seeds, but if you still want to trade, let me know.
Gumilla, I have white callas. Do you know if the arum italicum will live in zone 10? I had some of those in TN and they were pretty, but were dormant when I moved and I forgot them. Can we send/receive seeds from/to Pakistan?

Thanks for the info. My BOP blooms are starting to fade so I am anxiously awaiting the seed pod. Thanks for telling me what to look for! Another one of my bananas is now flowering, so I've been checking that one, too. Thanks again......I really appreciate the info!
