look at the blooms she has now. They were almost red a month ago.
What happened to L'Amour
Wow, Donna. That's sure different.
Wow! There is some environmental/cultural difference that's definitely affecting her color... Is she in the ground? Have you changed her fert? Hope you can figure this one out, Donna!
Yes, figure it out and tell me! LOL. Mine does that also. In fact this year mine has been very pale all season. It is in a pot. Though mine has never been almost red. It gets that orangey pink.
I guess she doesn't like cool weather. A record breaking cold front came in and it got down to 57 degrees but still mid 80's for day time. That's the only change. Butterfly, Adora, and Rosamond are still very pink so it hasn't affected them.
Shirley at least yours has some color. Mine looks beige lol very scarey.
Wow, I think If that would have happend to mind I would have fell dead, LoL........your sure right it is scary. Hope yall can figure out what's up and get it blooming right again. Man I sure didn't know it would do that.
:o(

Have you sprayed any insecticides lately. Someone told me that Avid can do some strange things. I had one brug that had speckled blooms. Every bloom in the flush did it. I had sprayed Avid. What I couldn't figure out was why none of the other brugs did the same thing.
No pesticides used except in GH in winter or on ant mounds. I have wildlife refruge. She is in a huge pot. It take 3 cu.ft. of dirt to fill. She was just put in it in spring.
Oh, wish, that I knew, why color changed so drastically, since after you had that nice deep pink flower. I also hope for an explanation as I want to learn a lot of environmental factors and how they can change a given hybrid completely.
I never actually have thought of L'Amour as having any special requirements of heat as she grew vigourously here together with a few other hybrids for all the cold months May-midJuly, where most other Brugmansia was dormant or close to be that. Most of the hybrids with strong L'Amour influence did good as well.
Ahm ... I grew L'Amour also in 2002 and color through her first summerflush was very pale and I remember posting pictures on our forum constantly to Monika to assure me, that I really had the right plant ... the fall flushes of 2002 she was in full color though. Could have been due to the high humidity we had there, but what do I know?
Any change in how you fertilized her, Donna?
This is my 6th flush since spring. She has been a constant bloomer. They have just a hint of pink today(4th day)
Donna, I live in zone 8a, and I had a huge brug (no name) that wintered outside last winter and had a huge flush of beautiful, large, pink flowers, about 6 weeks ago - last summer, the same brug was yellow. I thought I had seen it all, until, last week, the very same pink brug bloomed all yellow, like last year. Shoot, I don't know. Surely it's the weather, ours is very cool, it was very hot when the brug bloomed pink. If you find out anything, I'd surely like to know...
The brug of many faces. You are getting variety out of her. LOL! I'm sure it has to be a weather related problem. Hang in there. You are lucky to live in the zone you do and will get more flushes before frost. One more flush for me and I'll be done unless MN takes her time switching us to fall.
Shirley with the crazy weather all of us have been having, none of us know how soon MN will send us into fall weather. I hope it's going to be a good while so I can please see some flushes. I tried pollinating yesterday and the pollen is dry, no hope of pollinating with it.
Donna, I have found that Lamour really resents cool weather. It really does do a number on her color, the other thing is she looks a little anemic to me, how are you feeding it? Are you getting alot of rain?
We have been in drought. I feed her Super bloom but I have been doing lots of watering and she maybe getting just a little bit to much sun since we are having totally clear skies. The Butterfly next to her is fine though. It is probably the cold. We went from almost 100 down to 57 degree and the nights have been staying much cooler than normal. Low 70's instead of upper 80's
