Another bug question....

Anyone? I found these on butterfly. Here is a pic.....they look to be yellow looking eggs and then the bug is very small, yellow with dark (black) wings. Hopefully you can see them from this pic.

Those look like the aphids I have on my ascelpias (butterfly weed). They haven't "found" my brugs yet, and I sure hope they don't! I think that some people here use Avid to control them, if that's what they are... Gretchen

And this is what the leaves are starting to look like. There are many brugs around butterfly, but she is the only one that I can find them on.

I think you have aphids. Fortunately they are easy to get rid of. (BTW, Gretchen, I think Avid is for mites?) You can spray insecticidal soap or just about any kind of garden insecticide (especially on the bottoms of the leaves) and they should die quickly.

Thanks you two....if they are aphids...they are the biggest I've ever seen! LOL I'll try the insecticidal soap. Thanks again!

Avid works for aphids, too, but there are lots cheaper things that will work also.

Every spring I get aphids on my rose buds and on my hibiscus. I find palmolive in water in a hand sprayer works as well as any insecticide. And as fast. Often one drenching works.
