Morning Dick -

As you know we have to make up "fall" colors here in Ca. :-)

It's this color all year long, gets a little limp for a few weeks late Dec-Jan, but perks up pretty fast.

your picts put Fuchsia Autumnale on my want list
while Googling for it i found out it is hardy to 7 & heat resistant
even tho it is a trailing Fuchsia, it will trellis in the ground just fine even in So. CAlif.
Delta Farms is the only source i found to have it
& they are on my visit list come next spring
so thank you for showing it

I'm surprised it's listed at zone 7 hardiness, we've grown this several times and it won't take 37F here. It won't even overwinter in the frost free greenhouse.

It is a beautiful plant though!

I would be surprised if this were hardy to Zone 7 also. (I think I entered 11 in the PDB because that's what the info I have says). Our lows over the past six years have been in the upper 30'sF and I feared for it a couple of times. It does love the heat and doesn't drop blossoms the way some other fuchsias do when it gets blistery hot. It does like well drained loose rich soil.

I think I got this at the UC Berkeley plant sale, but can't remember for sure.

Delta Farms say it is hardy to zone 7 with mulching
http://www.deltafarm.com/catalog1.shtml
& the North West Fuchsia Society says they are Hardy in the PNW
