We had some blood tests run on Taffy because he is 12 now. Taffy is one of our older cats. The tests found a slightly elevated thyroid so the vet is going to remove it in a couple of weeks. She said she did not feel any mass on it, but they (her and a senior vet) will remove it because if it gets worse she could have renal failure or even heart failure later on from the effects of hyperthyroidism.
He also had a dental and had two teeth removed. I wish they would fill cats teeth like humans. I hate to see him lose his teeth.
He was really out of it even though I requested the additional IV to bring him around afterwards.
When we picked him up the Vet tech said his tail was sopping wet because they used alcohol to remove some dye he had on it. I didn't think anything of it until about three in the morning. Then I thought, isn't alcohol sort of poisonous, or irritating in that form. I thought he may try to lick it off! Luckily he was too out of it to have done anything. I then gave him a bath at three in the morning LOL He did not seem to mind at all and it gave me peace of mind. I told Bob I am going to tell the Vet tech she really should be careful with what she puts on cats from now on. I don't want to get her into trouble cause I like her, but she still needs to know for future cases. His tail was dripping with alcohol! Sigh.
He is up and about now but still has not eaten or drinken anything. The older pets seem to have so much more trouble than the young ones.
