Silica gel cat litter?

Do any of you use those 100% silica gel cat litters? Our Meijer store has bottles of them on sale for just under $5 right now, but I want to hear from people who've actually used them.

By the way...Is there any reason that these would not work in potted plants in place of products like "Soil Moist"?
