I was at Petsmart a while back and they had this litter box that looked like a deep storage container with a hole in the lid. So I bought this huge container at Target and used a jigsaw to cut an opening for the cats in the lid. At first only one of the cats used it. He had a hard time the first time figuring out how to get out. Once he figured it out he started using this instead of the other box I still have available.
I like this one because it is deep and they can't throw litter out and the dogs cannot reach into it to get feces out. Our Shihzu mix will go right into a covered box for "treats" if I don't face the opening toward the wall.
I also like it because I can put a whole lot of scoopable litter in it and do not have to change it often. It is also easy to clean cause you can remove the whole top and see all the corners that need scooping. I am trying to think of a way to slice the top to let litter funnel back in that they bring out on their paws. That would be good to try.
They wanted a big price for the litter box made the same way at Petsmart.
Has anyone tried large plastic storage containers for litter
