Friday the 13th.

Boonies, SD(Zone 4b)

Good morning, folks!!
It's a beautiful cool morning out and I feel that I should be doing some painting, not sitting at a desk. Such is life, vacation always ends too soon. It's Friday the 13th and that has always been a good day for me. Think I will go and buy a lottery ticket. LOL

DH went and bought a 1980 'vette last night. 66,000 miles on it for only $500. He had everybody going for a while. It's a Chevette, not a Corvette. Now he's telling everyone that he's got a vette to drive to work. LOL

Jewel, hope your family works things out. When DH bought the farm from his parents, we paid full market value on contract for deed. When his father died, his mother wanted to sign the farm over totally, but DH wouldn't hear of it. We should have done that and still given her the yearly payment because she had heart problems later and almost wound up in a home. They didn't have any assets besides the farm to sell if she would have needed to go in. It was a touchy situation. Beings DH is an only child, there weren't any siblings to have any input, but on the other hand, it all fell to DH to take care of everything for them. I tried to help as much as I could, but it would have been nice to have someone else helping.

Eva mae, you try to take it easy. I'm glad your chipping/shredding is all done. Bet it looks nice.

The weather has been strangely cool for August. Usually, the air conditioner is on constantly, but I don't think I have even had it on very much this month. By now, the locusts are buzzing in the trees constantly, but I think I have heard only one so far. It really seems like the end of September. We could still use some rain. The sweet corn patch has big cracks in the ground. I don't think my melons will be producing anything very big.

You gals in the path of Charley, keep safe and try to stay dry. Sounds like it's gonna be a whopper.

Take care everyone.

Ruth
