"Flower of Love"
This is such a beautiful flower. Very delicate smell.
Tabernaemontana divaricata
I have a big bush of this, I love it's soft smell early in the morning.
I don't think I have ever seen this plant, sweet,is it a night bloomer?
Looks wonderful. I'd bet it isn't hardy to Iowa. All the good ones aren't.
Hi Clare, haven't seen you for awhile!
I have never seen this plant, nor even heard of it. Looks very nice.
Hi there, Hibiscus! I usually have about one or two minutes to check out the forums these days. So I surf and run!
This shrub also goes by the common name of Crepe Jasmine or Carnation of India: http://www.desert-tropicals.com/Plants/Apocynaceae/Tabernaemontana_diva.html
Almost looks like Gardenia from the leaves and shape,I sure would like to smell it!
Root, the fragrance is very faint. Sometimes, I can't even smell anything. It has to be just the right conditions, and even then, the fragrance is mild. If I had to choose, I would choose gardenias, bouvardia, brunfelsia, and other stronger smelling flowers over this one, but it does have a lovely form to the flower and the plant as a whole.
Rooty, it has a spicy smell, like a carnation, but softer, & it only smells in the morning & at night. I had one that I'd grown from a gallon pot up to a 14" clay pot, then I lost it last winter :( I was mad at myself for months! I found a replacement at a local nursery, a three gallon pot for $40, but just couldn't talk myself into coughing up that much for it. Good thing, too! I found the same size pot at Walmart for $10! It was with the tropical hibiscus, and marked 'jasmine'.
Oh, wow, I have a plant that I think might be this and didn't know what it was! My uncle gave it to me and called it baby jasmine or something like that. Thanks for the ID!
I got one at the City Park sale in New Orleans last month and it was called Peacock Jasmine. I jut wanted to try something different. It is a baby and has not bloomed yet.
Wow Lisa! Thats a beautiful flower!
