Fed up with IE!!!

I am having problem with IE again.. I should have download Firefox soon as I reboot my computer recently but I didn't .. I wish I have done that.. Now I couldn't open IE at all.. How it start? Eveything was running fine and smooth.. after my DD was surfing and open website called www. dollspot.com. She surfed on that for a while then it went frozen and couldnt move the mouse cursor etc.. so she had to shut down the computer by push the button. When it run again. I went and click IE and it won't open at all. Everything goes weird on my cpu. I had to right click on mouse and click Explorer and it opened so here I am. If I don't know how to get on internet.. I would be stuck cause I can't open the IE at all. Good thing I know how to open the internet. ( I am still on Window98 2nd edition plus everything have been updated..)

I did scanned everthing and no virus found.. even I have cpu done by disk defragmented. It completed with no problem. But still couldn't open IE. I am getting frustated with this. I don't who would come and help me to solve the prlblem. My bro would help but he's very busy and lives in New Orleans. NO way for him to help me. He have so many clients to help.

I don't know what the other way to solve the problem.. Should I download the Firefox right away and leave IE alone or what?
