You have a favorite place for reading or napping in your garden??
My napping place,in the garden.
It amazes me what you do, TM... I see that lovely planting and feel the mosquitos!!!
beautiful. what is that plant to the right of the banana and sort of above split leaf philo? pretty neat
Beautiful TM!
Wow, so pretty! I love tropical gardens!
Aloha,I wish you could feel these mosquitos!!!!LOL
Thanks gang,Vossner that monstera.
I just love your gardens, so lush and green.
Great gardens. Who has time to kick back and relax though? I have three acres to take care of and right now, I'm not doing a very good job of it. It's too cold. How about down your way Don?
Brugie, supposed to get down to 55* tonite, feels like October instead of August!
Cala, its all that rain where having, you getting any of that tropical storm rain from Bonnie?
I work 18 miles from home and we've gotten a good downpour three days in a row. Did we get any here???? NOPE! I had to water last night! I'm hoping we get rain soon, it's so much better for the plants.
You bet the rain water if full of all the assential vitiamins, that help build a plant 12 different ways!!!LOL!
What a serene, restful-looking spot! Can I bring my pillow and blankie and take a snooze? LOL. Thanks for showing the great picture!
You bet,the falling water from the fountain, sure makes it easy for napping too!!
Beautiful! So relaxing......zzzzzzzz....Wow! I love the bananas!!
DeeS
How much colder do you think that Basjoo could take, Tropicman?
Who has time to nap?? Read?? LOL I just work until I fall over and that is my favorite place.
Looks serene Tman!
Laura, I had one and it didn't make it here, so I don't think it would make it for you unless maybe you put it on the south side of the house and mulched the heck out of it.
Laura,
Brugie, whay kills the Basjoo is mainly root rot from too much water, from rains and snowfall,if you can keep it more or less dry and covered with straw,is what I used last year, over a couple feet of it,then a plastic covering,on top,but ends left open so air can circulate through the straw, you don't want the straw to get to wet, where it doesn't dry out.
Even helps more the closer to the house foundation for extra warmth.
Chele, you need to get some rest, come over to my place for some extra rest while pulling some weeds, and if you fall a sleep, don't worry no one will see you in my jungle.LOL!
Thanks Dee,bananas are addicting!!!
I love the look of these tropical gardens. I don't have enough shade to do anything too tropical, except a few cannas.
Cannas will sure give that garden a tropical look as along with the feeling.
sorry I didn't make myself clear. I'm interested in knowing the name of the big plant to the right of the banana and looming ABOVE the monstera. BTW I meant to comment on how beautiful and lush your "napping" spot was. thanks Looks like some kind of fig.
Yes,thats a brown turkey figg, and the fruit was very good tasting too!
Beautiful-and restful.
Don I am amazed you have the time to *nap* there! ;)
Just short naps!!! LOL!
Things have doubled in growth now and can hardly even get back there now!
Beautiful, but that's the way it is with tropicals, they can be a blessing or a bane.
"eyes"
Wait all summer for them to take off and start growing ,then before you know it there done past the controllable stage, and if you go to prune it back, you think,I was waiting for so long for this to start growing and now I want to cut it back! But where do I begin, and will it look right when I'm done!!LOL!
TMan, that is beautiful. I think I'll try to grow a banana next year.
Are you SURE you don't live in the tropics??? Totally awesome looking garden!!! :~)
I planted my Musa "Basjoo" in the ground this summer, but it definitely needs to do a bit more growing before it gets to the size of your Nanas! Do you just cut yours down and then cover it with a good layer of straw or do you put wire fencing around the base and then fill the interior with leaves?
Do I dare take the chance of leaving my Musa "Dwarf Cavandish" outside this winter or should I dig them up next month?
Thanks
Yes this is Kansas,I'd bring my cavendish in for the winter,it's not hardy enough, and I tried both ways to overwinter my basjoo's,and they still die back and come up from the roots, just to cold for too long of a period of time.
Beautiful gardens, Tman.
Thanks,I really enjoy it,about 3 weeks before it all comes down, thats the sad part about tropical gardening here in Kansas.
