looking for seeds...

GOD's Green Earth, United States(Zone 8b)

Okay, I'm finally back in a seed growing mood. I'm looking for something interesting. If anyone has any extras and happens to be looking for an honest grower (I promise to abide by the hybridizer's rules!) Please e-mail me :) Thanks!!! Gretchen

PS: I know beggers shouldn't be choosy, but I'm only interested in seeds that have good potential for color. If that's offensive to anyone, I apologize to you in advance :)

I do not blame you Gretchen. Lots of work and money going into growing out seeds. It is frustrating if they all bloom white or Frosty!

Jones Creek, TX(Zone 9a)

Me tooo, Looking for unusual seeds.... and ones with some potential. You are right, lots of work, time and money involved and lots of praying that it will be "the one"......LOL
So any extras I will be glad to help grow out to......
Dee..... :o)

Can I hop on the Band Wagon too, I would love to grow out some seeds of unusual color also. Especially pink's or darker...not choosy. I will abide by the rules of the hybridizer and so forth.

So if they're are extra extra's out there and you need someone to grow them out I would be most proud & happy to do so.

I am going to use my "vegetable garden" to grow out Brugs. I just don't have any more space and want to grow more. I know I am going to cull quite a few this year and that will free up some space but I need more. Sure will be glad when we get moved and have actual acrage then I will have more room. Notice I did not say "enough". I don't know what enough would be.....LOL

Dee: I'm doing the same thing -- planning to use the area where I grew tomatoes to grow brugs next year, in addition to a very large, new bed that I'm putting in this Fall expressly for brugs in my side yard. The portion outlined in pink will be the where the new bed will go, tying into the existing ones with just mow paths inbetween.

I would also like some 'special' seeds. I have limited space, and while I know that sometimes a real beauty comes from an unknown, some of you hybridizers have put so much thought and time into what would make an interesting cross. I will keep records and live by the hybridizers rules. (Is there a list of guidelines here, and if so would it be the same or similar to ABADS?)

Linda: Here is a thread that Kell recently started...I believe it pretty well sums up the hybridizer's expectations:

I envy you people that have so much room to grow the brugs. We used to live on 11 acres and I had loads of plants, but I only knew about pink, yellow and white common brugs. Now that I'm loving all the new varieties, we just have 1/3 of an acre lot. I told DH this morning that if I had my way all the grass from the sides of the house and the backyard would come out, and there would just be pathways with brugs everywhere. He just looked at me like I was crazy and didn't pay any attention. Geez, I'm just like Rodney Dangerfield. I get no respect. LOL

Sylvia, that is too funny. Just think tho, you would have to hold that garden hose even longer.

San Antonio, TX(Zone 9a)

Well, that's true, Shirley. I guess there's a silver lining to everything, but I'd like a pink lining of brugs even better. LOL

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Sylvia, I look at what I have blooming and almost all of them are pink. I'm looking forward to some yellows.

Poor Sylvia, that gardener did more damage than we thought. Anytime someone compaires themselves to that man (Rodney Dangerfield) they are in serious dispair............LOL
