Are you gonna want me to try to root it?

Knoxville, TN(Zone 7a)

Arlene, that is a real beauty! If you want to try rooting a cutting, maybe we can swap hibiscus cuttings. I have several that I am trying to root now. Nat

Very nice indeed! :-)

Nat,
I will try to root for you. Last attempt didn't work. Hibiscus has instructed me on how to do it so I will just keep trying.

I was able to root my tropical easier than the hardy ones, which makes no sense to me at all.
I did read on a thread that someone did theirs in water and I think I may try that next.

The pics are "to die for" that is one pretty plant!!!

I was going to dip it in rooting hormone and then into a glass of water. How did you do it, jAlice?

that is absolutely stunning! Love the color.
Arlene, when I come up, you don't have anyone standing guard over your plants now do you? lol

Cassopolis, MI(Zone 5a)

I put them both in peat after dipping in rooting hormone and the tropical after 4 weeks has started developing roots. The hardy one which I have promised in a trade, is growing leaves, but really giving me a bad time about growing additional roots.

I feel terrible about it because the person I traded with has all ready sent me his part of the trade and I keep emailing him updates on this one that I am trying to root. Its my fireball that I am trying to root, and at the moment it does not have a branch on it that is not loaded with buds, so I hate to take any more cuttings right now.

When I checked these yesterday it looked like the hardy might finally be starting to get busy and create some roots.

Sorry about the long sad story here!!!! Got distracted from your question!!!! (I do that a lot as you know)

Knoxville, TN(Zone 7a)

Thanks Arlene. I'll try to get you a trade rooted. Will email you my hibiscus list. Last fall, I was able to get a few rooted - - but it looks like I might have better luck with rooting them now while the temps are warm and the cuttings are from active growing stock. Nat

Yes, would you please? Try and root it? I am starting all mine in water, under lights, plastic bag, lots easier, less work, no mess. Every hardy one I put in water rooted, oh, where will I put all these.....No rooting hormone, no plastic bag.

Good luck! PLMK

Hate to make ya lust . . . The one in the forefront is on its 3rd day of being open. And the one in the back is one day behind.

In its third day the anthers are still stuck together; wonder if they will split apart by tomorrow.

Do you see the 6 yellow dots that are the anthers?

Yes, I see them, looks like they are glued together. That is a beautiful flower.
