Brug. Unknown

Noblesville, IN(Zone 5a)

Here is the picture of the one that almost froze last year in bloom. They start yellow with a little pink and turn pink in a couple days. Does anyone have a guess as to which it is?

No idea what it is. Does it open more than this picture shows?

Brugie no not much if any.

I have had some suaveolens types that don't open much and have since sent them to brug heaven. I like my blooms to open as wide as possible. I hope yours will change.

Honeybee, I posted a picture of a pink brug a few days ago, and they started out yellow just like yours and finished off with pink on the ends, kind of like frosty pink, someone said it looked like frosty pink, But mine was just like yours. strange ha!

Kathy,

Yes, it is strange. I guess you didn't find out what yours was either. Do you have any other ones?

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Hey, if you are happy with them, that is what counts. It is just nice to be able to see inside them too.

HoniBee, I ordered a pink brug this past spring-X Insignis Pink-it looks a lot like yours-so much so, that I was muttering some naughty words lol when it looked like it would bloom yellow, not because I don't like yellow, I do, I have a lovely unnamed one, but because I had ordered and wanted pink. It is amazing how overnite it changes from what appears to be a sure yellow to a pretty pink. It has bloomed and bloomed. I don't have a digital camera and wouldn't know how to post a picture if I had one-practically computer illiterate, I am. Mary

Yes, Honeybee, I have about l5 diff ones that are blooming sized, and received a few more a couple weeks ago that were cuttings, and have already rooted.

I just love them

HoniBee, I do not think you are going to be able to find a name for this one - it is likely one of many unnamed pink hybrids. To my (non-expert!) eye it looks like some sort of pink insignis. I have one that looks very similar to yours, with slightly longer tendrils - it was my first brug. Mine does like yours, start off yellowish then goes to pink. On mine the pink is notably darker during warmer weather - but warmer weather also causes the blooms to close up and look a little droopy in the afternoon (they will open back up at night). On cooler days they will stay more open. This year I started getting semi-serious about brugs and I now have some 'fancier' ones but I'm going to keep my original because it pretty much takes care of itself planted in the yard and isn't bothered much by insects or weather. It ain't fancy but it's reliable. So, if yours is a good performer for you, hold on to it. Else, if it's disappointing, scrap it and try something else since there are plenty of different brugs out there and more arriving all the time.

I think I have the same brug, and I don't know what it is either. It was a plant from a friend two years ago. Unfortunately, my plants froze(yes, it does freeze here in Victoria!). But luckily, I had taken many little log cuttings, and they are really starting to produce. They begin very yellow, and end up pink. Last year, one of the blooms had either 10 or 12 tendrils(cant' remember which!!). I love it!!!

I ' think ' most pink brugs open yellow-ish.
Starting to look as if the darker the yellow is the darker the pink will be.
As I said JMHO =)
