Thats sure different, I'm assuming the yellow spot is the moon?

How big does this variety get? Heirloom?
I'm growing some for the first time this year, Sugar Baby & Georgia Rattlesnake, about the same size at the moment too.

These look like a neat one to grow.

Yellow spot is the moon and the size is supposed to be 20 - 25 lbs. This is my first year growing this variety (and it is a heirloom) so I'll find out later how big they get around here.

Thanks for the info, appreciate it ;)

Have started one of these from seed in a half-barrel by my deck where there's plenty of sun and I can keep an eye on it. (Lots of wildlife around to snack on things.) Will trellis it if it lives to that stage. (ha) Right now it's got four real leaves, yellow spotted, and it looks healthy and happy. Has anyone experienced any troubles with their Moon and Stars?

I've grown it for years...the yellow spotted leaves are normal...they are as easy to grow as any other watermelon and have a great taste. The meat is a bit more 'chewy'...there's some substance to it...but I like that...the kind that turn to mush in your mouth are sort of 'mealy' and I like the firmer flesh.
