Castor -will it survive winter - and big enough pot??

Albany (again), NY(Zone 5b)

OK - here's the story...

Moved to Dublin in the Spring, traveled 50% + for several months. Finally a bit settled. Yeahhhhh!!

Haven't had a chance to plant much...

The gardening season is coming to a close - should be able to get some big pots on sale.

Do I have a remote chance of starting a castor and wintering it here in Dublin - it's so dreary here in the winter that I thought it might be an interesting plant to start...

Reportedly the temperatures are: 34-47 and the yard is enclosed in a ten foot wall - and I could probably protect with sheeting during colder spells...

What's the lowest temperature that these plants can endure?

Second catch - I am renting a townhouse and might decide to move next Spring and the owner is quite fussy about her yard so I don't want to have to be digging up a huge hole when I leave. If it grows well, it will probably be too large to move and I'll probably have to offer to leave or destroy.... so, I'd like to keep several along the wall in big pots.

Any advice?

Don't bother start all over in the spring with seeds.Start them indoors in a window early and transplant outside.
