ForeverMorr and the winds....

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

This poor brug has been beaten to a pulp three times now. The first two storms nearly removed all of her leaves and this last storm ruined her blooms. They don't take 50 mph winds very well at all.

lol that poor thing! I think they take them rather well, if that a pic of after the winds. I dont know how I would stand up to those winds lol.
Its a beautiful flower Shirley!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

She is a frilly Brugie! A girlie girl flower!

San Antonio, TX(Zone 9a)

Love her, Shirley. Sure hope she gets released soon.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Kell, a lot of those frills are wind damage. LOL!

Sylvia, I know I have to make a decision later on. Will let you all know when I do.

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

I like it! Long tendrils, maybe it will get darker this fall?

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I think it is lighter now because we have been so cool. Today is the warmest we have been in quite a few days and it is only 81 right now. The next several days are to be in the seventies with lows in the 50's. Very unusual, but great weather for the Iowa State Fair.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Are you going there Brugie? Enter your pies in the pie competition!

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

Nice flowers...even with the wind.My Clare Mills tree was bent over during the wind when the storm came thru here..I stood on the porch and prayed it wouldn't snap..it survived...only lost a couple of crossed blooms. I still have NO seed pods yet..I have crossed tons of flowers too. :-)

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

Brugie.....I still love this one .....especially the name because it deserved a name as special you.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Thank you Frannie.

Kell, I don't enjoy baking pies that much.

Kyle, I'll have seeds for you to grow. LOL!

Medford, NJ(Zone 6b)

Sorry the wind is so bad your way. It's very pretty.

She's really pretty Shirley. I love the long tendrils.

Niceville, FL(Zone 8b)

Look at alll those blooms! Wow. She looks like shes got her petticoat on!

Yukon, OK(Zone 7b)

A beautiful brug Shirley, even with the wind! I love it!

Barnesville, GA(Zone 8a)

There's a girl that takes a licking and still keeps ticking!
She's a beauty Shirley, what about your Champagne Fizz?

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Thanks everyone. Nothing to call home about on most of my brugs yet. This has been a nasty year and it is looking like more rains tonight. Someone needs to slap me....I don't have pretty blooms, but I'm pollinating a lot of them and I can't seem to quit. LOL!

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

Shirley, what date do you bring your brugs in? Will you keep the ones with ripening pods in the garage?

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Liz, if I'm lucky, I can keep them out, pods and all, until about the 10th of October. We usually have about three nights with frost, so I'll put them in the garage and then bring them out for what is usually three weeks of nice weather. Then they will have to go in to stay. I'll only be holding the ones with pods this winter. I have some that I've held for two or three years and they are much bigger than any of our buildings will hold now.

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Very pretty, Shirley. Your cool nights have came our way. We're in the mid fifties at night and low eighties during the day. I'm loving these temperatures. LOL

Chariton, IA(Zone 5a)

When I got home,Linda said she had to drag the bruges into a circle to keep them from blowing over.
Yours still look pretty after the extreme weather.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

So sorry you guys are having terrible winds this year. Shirley, that poor brug! but it's still beautiful even though it's a bit wind tattered.

Coal Center, PA(Zone 6a)

Hi Shirley,
She is very pretty. And seems quite durable, too. LOL
Just keeps om going like the Energizer Bunny (o:

The cutting you asked me to trial and evaluate for you has done well. It has bloomed light and dark. Both very pretty (o:
Last flush had alot of blooms ..I remember taking a pix for you.
Will have to go looking for where it is filed.
I just repotted yesterday, so should take off now.

I like seeing how the brugs perform under glass as the weather turn to cold again. They bloom some of their lovliest and best colours then.
Looking forward to enjoying this pretty brug more and more (o:
Thanks for letting me trial her (o:

I am sorry I am so busy this year to not be here like before.
Hopefully, when through some of this I can be here more often again.
Alice

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

The flowers are very pretty. No brug flower is able to hold up against wind of such a strength. I think, she is doing very well.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Thanks Monika and Alice. I'm glad she is doing well for you Alice. Hopefully things will slow down for you Alice, and you can come to Daves and show us a lot of your brugs and new cannas and abutilons. Would love to see them all.

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

I think she is holding up very well considering and is still a beautiful brug.

Whitewater, WI

Still a beauty after all that, Shirley!!!!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

You wouldn't say that today. Boy, the winds were a mess again. I had just cleaned the yard of spent blooms and now they are everywhere. I'm ready to start a new year. This one sure hasn't been a lot of fun so far.

County Roscommon, Ireland(Zone 8a)

Shirley, despite the winds she is gorgeous. How tall is she? We have had the tail end of hurricane Alex here in Ireland but it has now passed over to England thank goodness.

GOD's Green Earth, United States(Zone 8b)

Shirley, I think your Brug looks fabulous, but I'm so sorry that it hasn't been a good season for you... I hope it improves soon :)

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Brugie, all your hard work and high hopes dashed but you just look towards next year. You are an inspiration.

Next time your found, with your chin on the ground
There a lot to be learned, so look around

Just what makes that little old ant
Think he’ll move that rubber tree plant
Anyone knows an ant, can’t
Move a rubber tree plant

But he’s got high hopes, he’s got high hopes
He’s got high apple pie, in the sky hopes

So any time your gettin’ low
’stead of lettin’ go
Just remember that ant
Oops there goes another rubber tree plant

When troubles call, and your back’s to the wall
There a lot to be learned, that wall could fall

Once there was a silly old ram
Thought he’d punch a hole in a dam
No one could make that ram, scram
He kept buttin’ that dam

’cause he had high hopes, he had high hopes
He had high apple pie, in the sky hopes

So any time your feelin’ bad
’stead of feelin’ sad
Just remember that ram
Oops there goes a billion kilowatt dam

All problems just a toy balloon
They’ll be bursted soon
They’re just bound to go pop
Oops there goes another problem kerplop

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Thanks for the song Kell. Boy, that is one that dates me.
