Does anyone vaccinate their own pets?

I was just looking on line at some of the pet suppliers and see that vaccinations are really quite cheap if you do it yourself.
I have injected insulin into two of my cats in the past. I was wondering if anyone here has ever given the annual series of shots to their pets, and if so how did it turn out?
I am a little bit scared of doing it wrong, or hurting the animal. The insulin needles are really narrow and shorter than the regular vaccine needles.
