When you see one?Notice white flowers and almost no spurs. Will post pic when open.
This was grown from collected seed.
Can you tell a true suaveolens.......
That is a beauty. Look forward to seeing it open.
Isn't the seperation from the calyx one of the most telling traits?
This is one of the many things I'd like to learn from you. How can a Suave really be weather resistant when they are so loose? Does it make a difference? And why can they take heat and humidity so well? And lastly, do YOU believe that they are more suseptable to SB?
I noticed that Star Dancer has really short to no tendrils. Yes, she finally showed me a bloom and then the storm quickly made mush out of it. She didn't even have time to fully open. More will be opening though. Thanks Vi.
VI..... suaveolens originated in the hot humid jungles along the eastern edge of Brazil. Other species originated at much higher altitudes in the Andes mountains. In those areas its warm, never really hot, and cool at night.Kinda like Calif. Thats why they grow good out there.
suaveolens flowers have a typical funnel shape, which is seen in your picture Kyle.
I think the short tendrils are why I don't care for the suaves anymore
I have 4 seedlings that opened this week and they all are suavenolens X
Not happy with them at all.....
CC..but they will take the heat and bloom.
I have some blooming right now and I'm not having good luck with them holding up. They never flare open and I will be getting rid of mine also.
Shirley, even without tendrils, I don't think you'll be disappointed in Star, can't wait till you smell her! Does Renee still have hers too? I am so glad I shared, my new one is just setting buds also. Remember, she doesn't do well with late cuttings :(
Gosh, I didn't think about sticking my nose in her. There are so many smells in my flower beds, I never know what the fragrance is coming from out there.
Kyle,we don't get a lot of heat up here......
every once and a while we get some really hot days but this year especially, has been very cool and rainy
The past few days have been in the low 60's for high temps....
