NEED TO HEAR FROM THOSE WHO GOT WHAT I CALLED MY PATIO BRUG

Montgomery, AL(Zone 8a)

These were given as small seedlings at the FLRU & GARU this year. I would like to know how they are doing for you. How large have they grown, do they have a 'Y' yet. Any info you can share will be appreciated.
Thanks, Larry

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Hi Larry, long time no see here! How are you doing?

Montgomery, AL(Zone 8a)

Hope your doing fine. I'm doing OK. I decided to not post much, if any on DG in the future, too much sh@# going on.
I'll call you later.

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

Barnesville, GA(Zone 8a)

Hi Larry, always enjoy your posts. Linda

Niceville, FL(Zone 8b)

Hi Larry,
I was one of the lucky recipients of your patio brugs. It has grown some but I am still patiently waiting for it to bloom. Will post a pic as soon as it does.

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

Larry, was just fixing to go looking for you to tell you were about to have a baby, lol.
I noticed today that there is a teenie bud forming, maybe the size of a pencil lead.
I'll go out in the morning and tell you exactly which one it is. Its about 3 ft tall and in the ground.

Larry don't know if mine is the patio or not but the Rosamond x L'Amour has a Y this week. Should bloom soon. Hope you are well. Did you recieve my e-mail I sent a few weeks ago?? You are coming to the fall Swap??? Go look at my list. There are a few things you may be interested in.

Montgomery, AL(Zone 8a)

Donna, I do not remember getting an email. I am not sure if I will be able to make the roundup or not yet. I will be in Biloxi from the 17 of Aug until the 3rd of Sept. I have to take a class at Keesler.

Six Mile, SC(Zone 7b)

Larry - I apologize. Mine bloomed a single bloom on Aug.2 . I took a couple of pics and was side-tracked. Leaf damaged occurred during the heavy rains and floods we had. I'll send more info on the second flush. Pete

Larry I will out of town for the day of the 17th and the InLaws will be here on the 22nd for a couple of days but come by before you head home and see if there is any cuttings you want to get or if there is anything listed on my swap list let me know and I will set it aside for you and can meet you the interstate at exit 57 if you can't get by here.

Montgomery, AL(Zone 8a)

Thanks to those who responded. Pete, I guess you are the only one to get a bloom so far. How tall has your plant gotten? I do not expect these to get more than 3-5 ft tall at maturity. How long was the bloom and size wise? I hope it shows more color with the second flush and the temps cool down some.

Barnesville, GA(Zone 8a)

And, well darlin, now that you're behaving...

She just Y'd a week or so ago, here she is, I didn't kill her :)

AAARGh, went out last night looking at tags and have found that 2 that i have are faded beyond reading. On one i can see (blank)xbutterfly.....the other i think its says butterfly but i cant see for sure.
I'll look in the light again in the am. The that i can read, which has Y'd is about 3 ft tall, with dark green serrated leaves. the other one isnt doing to well, not dead, just not growing very quickly. i have that one in a pot which may be why its not doing so well.
more later

Hey Larry!
I got blooms, such big blooms for a little plant, and a wonderful scent. I think you got a keeper :) I forgot to add, that she's surrounded by Gypsy Queen. Patio looks a bit rough after Frances, but she propped back up.

And at the same time, your seedling bloomed. Please forgive it's appearance, but the worms fell out of the trees after the storm! This is it's first and only bloom so far, it's as big and robust as her momma.

Oh that's pretty. Great job Vi. Yep she is very much alive lol.

Barnesville, GA(Zone 8a)

Larry, I gotta tell you that of her 5 blooms, she has 3 pods!
No, I didn't do it, my hands just aren't steady enough :( She must be a good Moma tho :)

Montgomery, AL(Zone 8a)

Vi, sounds like you have a real lady of the night. I'm happy for you!!!!! My brugs are doing terrible this yr. I have a couple of nice seedlings, but will have to wait until next yr to see how they do.

Knoxville, TN(Zone 7a)

Larry, Mine is about 3 ft. tall and has several buds about 3 inches long. Once it blooms, I'll take a picture for you.

lagrange, GA(Zone 7a)

Larry It's so good to see you posting. I have really missed you.

Montgomery, AL(Zone 8a)

Jim, good to here from you.
Thanks to all who have been growing what I called just 'Patio' brug. The reason I called it that is because it should not grow very tall, less than 5 ft I hope. If you get flowers that you consider unique and want to name it after it has bloomed several times, please feel free to do so. No need to give me any credit, just happy to add to the brug world.

Barnesville, GA(Zone 8a)

So Larry, were these all different seedlings? I thought they were from cuttings from one of yours? Or am I showing my age and memory again :( I grew mine in the ground, I wonder what the others did?

And Jim's right, Larry, we miss you!

Montgomery, AL(Zone 8a)

Vi, they were all different seedlings from 2 seed pods. The mother was Eventide and the father unknown.

Knoxville, TN(Zone 7a)

Larry, here are some photos of your patio brug taken this weekend. Sorry for the blurriness on this photo.

And this brug had lots more leaves on it until my DH underwatered it while I was out of town for 10 days. It is making a nice recovery though....will need to hire a plant sitter next time!

And look how dark the bloom is on the second day. I like how the pink goes all the way up. :)

ooooooh Nat, that's nice. LindaSC

Montgomery, AL(Zone 8a)

Nat, I'm glad you like it. I like its' pink color also. I will leave it up to the growers to name it I they feel it warrants a name. I hope it holds true to being a small plant with rather large blooms. Again, thanks to everyone who was willing to grow these out for me.

Knoxville, TN(Zone 7a)

Larry, I'll let you know how this one does next year. I'll have to root one of those suckers and try planting one in the ground -- the REAL test to see how large they will grow. My blooms aren't as large as Vi's - -but mine are pinker!!!

Montgomery, AL(Zone 8a)

That sounds good to me.

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

Wow that is very pretty. Congrats Nat

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Very pretty, Nat.

Barnesville, GA(Zone 8a)

Nat, I think you win the prize!
That's really pretty and would be exceptional kept in a pot!

Knoxville, TN(Zone 7a)

Well, I think next year once it is repotted and given more TLC (i.e. fertilizer), it will do even better. Larry gave me this one this spring and I didn't repot it for several months and it ended up with a nutritional deficiency (my fault). But once, I shape it up by removing some of those suckers, it will have a nice shape. And I look forward to seeing how dark those blooms might be next year.
