when my new syringa meyerei palibin blooms. In the meantime how do I care for them. There doesn't seem to be much written about their likes and dislikes. Also who has any recommendations for my brand new raised, deer-proof vegetable garden. I'm in zone 6.5 and want to plant now (Aug 5)
Springtime in Wilton will be lovelier

Welcome to Daves Garden. Hope you are enjoying yourself so far. As for you lilacs, I don't do much to mine.....I might put some of the fertilizer stakes around them every couple of years and I toss my apple peelings around the base of them, only because I was told it was good for them, but I don't know why. I try to remove the seed heads or spent blooms, but sometimes I don't get that done and so far they continue to bloom.
