All the man told me is it gets really big and it will take over. It looks just like our wild ditch taros growing all over, but it isn't, a little bit different. Can anyone help?
yet another name this ee
It looks like the melanga that Root grows.
I think this one is a little rounder on the ear points and a lighter shade, very nice one Lisa!
I say Xanthosoma.
I would say xanthosoma melanga

Ely, no, I don't think that is the same critter :-(
Lisa, your's look much rounder. Is it actually?
yeah, i think so chele. I'll have to take another pic of it today..the whole plant. There is one leaf on it that is slightly varigated. It has a light green splotch.
that picture was of a xs. to me it is not the same plant either. i guess we have to wait on that pic.....

I've been wondering if Badseed's & Root's malanga were X. purpurea because they look like the X. purpurea variegata I've been seeing. If yours is showing a little variegation, I'd bet that is what it is. Here's a pic. I posted other pics in another thread: http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/447237/
I had to look hard to see the pot! I thought that was planted in the roots. LOL
I have to get out today and get a new camera cord. Mine croaked and I can't download a thing! My melanga are waist high and I have not seen even the tiniest bit of variegation. I am still growing the one the good doc sent me last year, so it's got some age on it.
I agree it's Xanthosoma. I don't think it is sagittifolium, and it's not purpurea. I also agree that you three have the same. I'm no use after that. Maybe someone at aroid-L would know.
