whoops, I spelled the name wrong. it is Velutina..

Crestview, FL(Zone 7b)

nice color... I guess the name is reflective of the fuzziness of the nanner..... Ornamental or edible??

Brewers, KY(Zone 6b)

ornamental mz m. It looks like the momma plant will not get too big here, only about 7 ft.

Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

Those are really neat Lisa! I too like the color.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

I hope I still have one of those. The tags got lost on some of the nanas when I moved and some have died. Love the pink fruit!

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Lisa, can you take a picture of the whole plant, so I can see the stems(pretty please with sugar on top?)

Brewers, KY(Zone 6b)

sure suz, no problem!

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Thanks Lisa. I know what part of my nanas are, still trying to ID a few. My boss and I went to look at a house, they had tall nana trees with large clusters of short FAT nanas. The stems had bent all the way to the ground, but did I remember to take a picture??? no, I didn't even think of it till we had left.

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

Lisa I forgot about these nanas...we had them years back..not very big but very interesting to grow. :-)

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Too Cute!!! Great color also!

here ya go suz, sorry I am late posting your request. I did take the picture of it yesterday and last night when I went to upload it, I couldn't find where I put the doggone disk. So here it is, another disk, another day..grin.

Thanks Lisa! I'm going to check in daylight, but I think I still have a veluntina left! it's shorter than the rest, so that makes sense now. I couldn't figure out why it wasn't 10ft tall like the rest.

San Antonio, TX(Zone 8b)

I keep trying to grow one from seed. Twice unsucessful. If anyone has a baby plant they want to sell or trade let me know.

Brewers, KY(Zone 6b)

Does anyone know if the seeds are viable?

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I have some that I bought, so they must be unless they are crossed maybe? I know nothing about bananas except that I like them. I got my seed from Banana Tree.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Its so pretty
Its ornamental?.....but has nanas that look like they'd taste good Not fair!....so sad!!!

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

The seeds should be viable.
CC, I've heard that there is no taste to the fruits on these, they're just for looks. I've got an Ice Cream pup if you'd like to try one that has good fruit!

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)
