For those who don't know, Carissa is a seedling from Monika's seeds that several of us grew a couple of years ago. Last year she bloomed white for me and I was a little disappointed in her until she bloomed last fall with a lot of white double blooms and the inner skirt dropped. So, I was happy. But this is what she is doing now.....you can imagine how happy I was that I held on to her. She doesn't have a lot of blooms right now, maybe up to a dozen or so, but each one of them has this color. You need to know that these blooms have been through 2.6 inches of rain, 109 degree heat index, and 50 mph winds in the last 24 hours.
For anyone with Carissa
Didn't I water Carissa when I was there?LOL!
What a beauty,I hope that bloom opens more for you,I'd like to see that inner skirt drop with that color!
Wowser.
Looking good!
Shirley get that ladder out and get us some better shots!
I can't wait to see more of this one :)
Oh wow Shirley! It is gor-gee-us!
Oh She is beautiful!! Of all cuttings not to make it. Such color!! WOW!!
That's beautiful. It reminds me of a rose starting to open.
It's beautiful! Lovely colour.
Another perfect reason to eval brugs a bit before releasing them huh?
Just lovely, Shirley.
Looking forward to Carissa's blooms (o:
What a beauty!
Very beautiful. Can't imagine a whole bush full of them. Any fragrance?
Really Shelly! I guess we really need to hold on to them for a full 2 years. I think it is just fantastic and I like the double dark stuffed bloom! I just love it. And the color too! Way to go Monika and Brugie. All those seeds seem to have produced great brugs.
It is so beautiful brugie!
I have been seeing all of the photos of Monika's doubles but had no idea we actually were getting some here also.
I am so excited for you.
The flower is very pretty Brugie. I look forward to seeing more photographs.
Brugie, what a lovely surprise for you!!!
its gorgeous
Carissa is beautiful, love the color, and the name.
Shelly... exactly the reason why Brugmansias need at least 2 full years of evaluation... first flush rarely shows what it will end up looking like.
Shirley... stunning and it looks like it holds up well to adverse weather which is certainly a plus in my book!
Wow, looks like it won't be long before we have double pink. It's beautiful Monika and Shirley.
Edited to correct Monika's name. It looked like I called her a monkey. So sorry, Monika. I wouldn't do that for the world.

Thanks Everyone. What a great bunch of people on this forum. Barb, she has a great fragrance, but I can't smell her because she is so tall. I could barely pollinate one or two of her flowers and don't know if they have taken yet.
Is this the long awaited first double pink? Linda
Love it! Beautiful flower.
Hot dog! It's looking good.
No, this was a White Pearl X Big cross and should remain, I think, apricot/peach in color. I have always known it is best to hold a brug for a couple of years to make sure everything about it is what you think it is. This one really has made a believer out of me because it changed the color of its blooms the second year. Doesn't it make you wonder how many seedlings may have been better the second time around? LOL!
Thanks everyone, for your nice posts. Carissa and I appreciate it.
Marvelous Shirley and Monika! She's wonderful! I remember her from last summer and fall. She started to change in the garage.
I can't think of anyone who deserves its more brugie!!!!
Its so great when all that time and effort turns into something so glorious!
Absolutely beautiful!
Please don't tell me that this means that I need to keep my frosty pink lookalike seedlings for another year? Carissa started out a double, just didn't show her true colors at first, right?
Beautiful!!! WTG Shirley and Monika. Love the color!
I hear you Ronna. I am wondering how I can keep my seedlings 2 years and still have room for my any new ones. Heck I don't have room for my old ones.
Oh shirley I can't wait for mine to bloom i will kepp you posted how she does here. thanks again for sharing such a lovely brug with me.
I'm wondering if it will take two years for them all to bloom this way. Maybe the plant has to gain maturity to have color. Carissa did start out double, right off the bat. I always looked at the blooms and thought there was just a hint of apricot in them but it wouldn't come out until now.
Wow, Shirley. She's beautiful. Congrats to you and Monika.
That's one gorgeous brug Shirley.. congratulations to you and Monika.
That's a nice bloom Shirley. Congrats to you on Monika on a job well done.
Now I have to go hit my Carissa with some MG so she'll pop like yours.
I also have been keeping my fingers crossed on maybe getting to seee my herrenhauser garten bloom. It has been loaded with buds which keep dropping as they always do but I managed to get one up to 6inches or so and it actually got a small split in the calyx.
I talked on the phone with Frannie a few days ago and mentioned this bud to her and I also made the comment that now that i've bragged about it it will probably fall off, well guess what today I went and looked and sure enough it has taken the plunge!
Awesome...........! :-)
My HG is dropping buds too, but they aren't getting any size to them before it happens. I'm afraid this one isn't going to be held over this year. I don't have time or energy to spend on something that doesn't perform for me. This will be the third summer and I give up.
Thanks Kyle. I hope the next flush won't be bothered with all the winds and rains. Looking at the blooms today, they are pretty well ruined.
Oh Shirley, it is an amazing bloom! Congratulations to you and Monika!
Bonnie
Again I had to come look, I liked her so much in the pics last year, but I like her so much more with this color! How exciting huh Shirley? :o)
