ARGH! How do I find a file which MAY have been downloaded?

This was really stupid but here goes:
I was interested in looking at Opera so I went to the download link and clicked to download it. It did NOT come up with a screen to ask where I wanted to put the file as I'm used too. It seemed to download something, I don't know what, to my PC. Other that search for things updated today, what's the quickest way to find what it put on my PC?
