Hoya book availabe now

Valley Village, CA

I also have 4 copies of Dale Kloppenburgs book which I just love. Great pictures, several spelling errors, some location differences, but all in all a good book. I did not give him a A+ on spelling, but he doesn't contridict him self. He does correct himself in later issues of the Fraterna, when names change, until then they all have just #'s when the name is decided on it is announced in the Fraterna, or Christine Burton will jump in and make the correction. Dale Kloppenburg's book is at the California Cactus Center, she will mail them out. Ask for Molly the owner. She has 10 of them at this time. I saw them there. catuscenter.com

Again...white Kloppenburg's books have many spelling and geographical errors...they also contain many identification errors, wrong leaves with flowers, visa versa and some just plain wrong. I know he is a friend of yours Norma, and I am sure he is a lovely man. I just want to warn the newer folks not to accept everything he has to say as gospel. Best get the Burton critiques and compare...judge for yourself.

I just want to warn all of you the the Crassula book written by the great master
Gordon Rowley, also has wrong Identifications, but we are glad to have the book rather than none.
But we do name plants by the flowers and not the leaves. I'm not nit picking on Gordon Gowley, or any one else, I have also read Chistine Burton's Books and her clitique I have no intention of bad mouthing either one of these people, we are all better off that they took the time to write the books & journals for us to use, and we are capable to of making our choices which one we prefer but I will read both before I do. I have seen both of their own corrections of their own work. They don't need each other to make the corrections they do it themselves. Both books and journals are useful if you do research, Each has a room full of research material, by many authors which they use. No one is paying either of them for the work that they do. Norma

Whoops,

Sorry Norma

Yes, Carol, he is my friend and the lady is your friend, both have a lot to offer, I couldn't tell by the leaves anyway, so leaves don't matter to me. I can't tell by the dried leaf examples, I can't tell by the type sheets. They just look like old dried leafs to me ,and could be camillias as well, Dale Kloppenburg is my friend and I do respect Christine Burtons work.
