Woweee! 3:01 a.m. I must be crazy or something! But I guess that beats sitting in traffic for two hours!
Lisa, glad to hear you survived another night! I'm thinking, we'll live with wet (or overly wet) or dry (or overly dry) if everyone can stay safe and healthy! Take care!
Well, I think I figured out that cutting hay is like washing your car in the city - just dares Mother Nature to send in the rain! Hope everyone's cuttings dries out well.
It looks like we're going through another round of "city-fying". The local radio station doesn't do the "farm report" or "farm weather report" any more. Can't wait - three more summers 'till we can move! Oh, well, at least my TN Ag report came in the email last night...
Came home yesterday and headed right for the fridge and took out some left-over corn and ate it straight - cold and without butter! DH thought it was pretty discusting. Wait 'till he hears that I like it raw off the stalk, too! We're a good two weeks ahead of normal for corn, and the fields are just gorgeous - deep, dark green topped by gold.
Plane tickets are bought! Heading out to Nashville, Franklin, Clarksrange, Murfreesboro and Fayetteville, TN middle of July! (With a side trip to Huntsville, AL to check out the Space Center!) I know DH and I will "really" be wanting to move after *that* trip! I'm expectin' July to be a little on the warm side?
Next set of calves getting big enough to head to market pretty soon. Big, black ones with white faces. Makes their faces look like skulls. Spooky at night when your headlights shine on them ;-) Doesn't seem like all that long ago when they were little guys chasing eachothers tails!
Although I am still stuck in the city, and while I am sad that the city is expanding into the surrounding farm/ranch land, I am gratefull for the fresh produce, and that my money is going straight to the farmer/farmer's family that is growing it. Peaches! Cherries! Strawberries! Corn! Little extra helping of blessings to all you farmers out there!
Take care, everyone!
