Pics of my MIL's container plants

Pocola, OK(Zone 7a)

Well, she's more like a step MIL. We were at my FIL's house this past weekend and I was impressed with all her flowers this year. With all the rains we've had this year, they have just flourished and are so pretty. It made her feel good that I wanted to take pictures, I didn't tell her I was thinking about posting them in DG. They don't do computers anyway. I also wanted pics to help me get ideas for myself.

They have lots of dappled shade and I was having trouble getting a good pic without the washed out effect. My camera is not the best.

Impatiens in a birdbath and ivy topiary? on the right. The picture does not do it justice.

They have a very small backyard that they have done away with all grass and just gone with a swimming pool, walkways and container plants. It's very pretty.

The door you see at the back is the door to their garage. My FIL fixed up the front of the garage to match the house. There is a small waterfall and fish pond in the opposite corner of the yard. I'll be posting that pic in the watergarden forum.

Another really cool one.

The seat in the background provides sort of a nautical feel to this one, I think.

How lovely. It's so nice that you took these pictures. We grow plants for our own satisfaction, but don't we feel proud when someone else appreciates them too!

She has a really neat way of planting at the bottom of her topiaries. I left the topiary itself off of some of my pics because I wanted to get a good pic of the plants at the bottom. Sometimes there wasn't enough room to get a good pic of all of it anyway or I would have ended up in the pool. LOL

It's certainly inviting, however, it wasn't very cool when we were there on Saturday. But not as hot as it normally is this time of year.

They have all of their parties in that backyard. Birthday parties, July 4th Parties, just parties for no reason, and even one of their daughter's got married back there. It's amazing how many chairs and tables you can get around that pool, and still have room for the wedding.

Hi, your pics were such a TREAT to a cold, tired-of-winter New Yorker!! Thanks so much for sharing them. Kudos to your inlaws. Impatiens in a birdbath, cannot wait to copy her wonderful idea. Thanks, jean4

Cherishlife, Yes thanks for posting those great pictures of large pots at your inlaws place. And the waterfall if super. I have a couple of lily pools but no waterfall. Donna

Welcome to DG, Jean! Thanks for bringing this thread back up. It certainly is refreshing on this cold wintry day. I am so ready for spring.

Donna, my inlaws don't know much about the names of their plants, but they at least know how to plant and water them. They buy all of their plants at the beginning of the year. Wouldn't know the least thing about starting them from seed.

Wow.....luv all the pictures! Thanks for showing them to us. Your MIL has done a fabulous job...please do tell her so.

What zone to your inlaws live in? Oklahoma, too?

Pocola, OK(Zone 7a)

Yes, they are in Norman, OK. Just south of Oklahoma City. I think it's zone 7a.
