Which hoyas desire more water?

SW, WI(Zone 4b)

Don't know if this has been touched on in this forum before...if so, sorry I was too rushed and lazy to read the FAQ's...if not......new knowledge! (I'd like to print a list)

Can any of you think, off the top of your heads....which Hoyas seem to enjoy moister soil?

If I recall correctly....the three I know of are H. lacunosa, the variegated compacta (or is that compacta in general?) and H. bella?

Any others?

TIA!

A few more I know about are H. obscura, H. multiflora...and any of the Philippine species seem to like lots of water. Of course, it's not easy to find out which ARE the Philippine species... If I think of any others I will post.

Thanks!!

Yes, now to figger out which are the Philippine species~~

Any others come to mind, anyone?

Bella, of course...Speaking of Bella, I've lost all my Bellas now. I abused them terribly and I'm not trying again!

Speaking of multi-flora, I didn't like it much and put it outside on the porch to sink or swim and do you know that plant is growing like crazy now. Go figure!

The thinner the vine and leaf, the more water they will need. They can't store water as well, as the others. Those living close to the Equator and get rained on almost daily will require more water.
Carol Noel tells me that hers get rain water daily, and they are doing just fine. But remember that they must drain quickly, just like they do hangingi in the trees, these are not the forest creepers.
which like to stay moist. I have several that I water just like my cactus, once a week, but they can go longer if needed. I also have more trouble starting the fine leaf species. My H. kentiana is in flower for the first time. It has a very sweet funny smell at night, not as strong as H. carnosa

Also...it occured to me in the GH this morning that the Big Leaves...especially the very glabrous ones like H. coriacea, H. fraterna etc. seem to transpire more and use up the moisture in the pot...those with little hairs seem to guard off the loss of moisture. My H. calycina, tho...is a water guzzler! I also notice that the pots on the outside edges of the trays, dry out more than the inner pots that have a cooler (perhaps) and more humid little mini-climate while the outside ones have at least 1 side of the pot exposed.

Plant when they are forming umbels and being to flower also need lots more water. Sometimes they will blast their buds when staying too dry.
