CLOSED: Tomato seeds to trade for hibiscus & or veggies

Fritch, TX(Zone 6b)

I bought WAY too many seeds this year, and have several varieties of tomatoes, which were purchased from http://www.seedsofchange.com and are certified organic.

Will list the types when I get them all gathered together. I may have other things you would like as well.

Some of the tomato varieties I would be happy to share, as I ordered too many this year:
Super Marmande, Thessaloniki, and a few others I can't recall. They are all organic seeds, good varieties. I didn't get a chance to try any of them this year.

Would love to have chinese cabbage (head), leeks, parsnips. Also looking for Southern Belle Hibiscus, plant or seeds. I believe this has the deep red, very large flowers.

I would also like to trade for organic marigold seeds, organic tansy seeds, organic wormwood seeds. (Or plants of any)

Thanks!
Tamara

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

You've got LEEKS! (I'd like the Thessalonki tomato seed.) Have tons of veggies - let's see if there's anything else we can trade. I have about 60 varieties of tomatoes and am always looking for anything I haven't tried yet.

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

PS - I love their seeds - lots of varieties and always viable!

Brandon, MS(Zone 8a)

I have extra parsnips - "Hollow Crown" from Heirloom Seeds. http://www.heirloomseeds.com
I've never been any good at tomatos - do you have any really easy cherry tomatos?

Great! How about a pack of American Flag Leeks and 10 Brandywine seeds for some Chadwick Cherry and Thessaloniki Tomato seeds? Do you have other tomaotes? I have about 57 varieties, but I'm always on the lookout for ones I don't have.

Fritch, TX(Zone 6b)

Actually, I remeber I ordered som eSnow White Cherry Tomatoes from Territorial Seed, i fyou would like I can share my only packet with you. There are 18 seeds left in my Thesaloniki, and it is my last until I order again, and th;en I am really leaning toward the Brandywines. I haven't found the chadwick cherries yet, and if I do, Natasha has first choice for those if tshe is interested. I will look for them tomorrow.

What are American Flag Leeks???

Can you please tell me in advance what brand your seeds are?, as I would rather not have some... My brands are listed at the top of the thread, adn after I find them all, I will list all my tomato variieties, as well as anything else anytone is interested in.

Tamara

Brandon, MS(Zone 8a)

TamaraFaye - I'm happy to share the Chadwick tomatos with Sequee, or send me another type which is *really* easy. Or do you have some peppers or eggplant which are easy? This will be my first spring vege attempt and Sequee is going to send me a couple of different tomatos to try already. The more the merrier, but I'm not fussy as long as I get to try a variety to see what I can grow. Your envie is waiting for the mailman tomorrow.
Natasha

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

Oops - I obviously got a bit mixed up - thought you had the Chadwicks - no biggie though. I'd be happy to send the Leeks and Brandywine for the Thessaloniki Tomato seeds. One thing I've learned about DG - it all works out in the end. Is there anything else you're looking for before I seal your package?

The leeks are Gurney's and the Brandywines are Renee's garden.

PS I already Have Snow Whites - they are very cute - you will enjoy them!

Fritch, TX(Zone 6b)

Yes, I have the Chadwicks.

CORRECTION!:

MY PACKET SAID 25, BUT THERE ARE ONLY TWELVE CHADWICK SEEDS, 18 THESALONIKI, 45 SNOW WHITE.

But I have plenty of:Tigerella (heirloom), Super Marmande, and Peron Sprayless, all from www.seedsofchange.com Snow White are from www.territorial-seed.com

Natasha~No eggplant, but I have Tomatillos (Purple Mildes) and several Peppers. I would think any would be eaasy in your zone.

Sequee, please let me know what else you want so we can have a more even trade. I kno wit always works out, but I have plenty to share of everything except the ones you wanted.

Got a sick baby waking up, will list peppers next time I am on...

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

The American Flag Leeks are Gurney's and very easy to grow. They come on a 15' seed tape, can't go wrong! The Brandywine are Renee's Garden seeds - all seeds are 2004. Have you ever tried Purple Calabash? They average about 6 ounces and are just adorable! The are heavily ruffled and are just the cutest little things. When mature they have a hearty, musky flavor. If you've never tried them, I will include some that I saved this year. I've never saved seed before, so I can't really vouch for the viability. I did test a couple of random seeds and most of them are growing (in my sunroom as we speak!).

I would like to try the Peron Srayless and the Thessaloniki, since you don't have that many seeds of each - I would be happy with half a dozen of each. Also some Tomatillos! Yippee - something I've never tried!

Maybe we can do some peppers, too. I have about 20 varieties, but again, I'm always looking to try new ones! OMG - I'm such a little piggie!

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

Natasha - Just received your packet. Thank you! Haven't mailed yours yet since I'm waiting for the MS-5 to ripen on the vine before I mail him to you! Would you like me to toss in some pepper and eggplant seeds, too? What about squash?

Sorry Tamara - didn't mean to hijack your thread - bad habit of mine... This offer is good for you, too ~:-)

Brandon, MS(Zone 8a)

Sequee & Tamara, it's all new to me! I'll be happy trying a couple of seeds of anything. I have to go back to work next June (boo hoo) so this spring will be the first and last time I will have the opportunity to baby lots of little seedlings and have some chance of knowing what they all are.
Natasha
PS - Tamara, if you are short on Chadwick then ignore the e-mail I sent and just send me a pinch of the white ones, or any tasty tomato - I'm really not fussy.

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

If you've never grown squash, you gotta try some! The leaves and flkowers are gorgeous! If you don't care for squash, you can pick the flowers and stuff them for lovely appetizers, or add them to soups, quiche, or omelettes.

And you HAVE to have a few peppers because they're so easy to grow! I will make you up a fun little surprise package!

This is one squash plant from this season.

I habe Hibiscus seeds in four colors, do you still have tommato seeds?

Fritch, TX(Zone 6b)

Gumlla~Yes I have more tomato seeds. I would love your hibiscus. All my seeds are organic, and I prefer seeds that come from plants that are grown naturally, so please be honest. If they have been treated, I would still trade, then give your hibiscus seeds to a neighbor or friend who does not care about that.

Fritch, TX(Zone 6b)

Sequee~
Not to worry, you are not a piggie, nor are you stealing my thread. I think it is great when a thread gets people talking and sharing and getting to know one another. I do not know what a purple calabash is but would probably like some.'I don;t need any peppers, eggplant or squash, but what is MS-5? Actually, I MAY be interested in the eggplant, what variety is it?
BTW, your squash plant looks great!

Fritch, TX(Zone 6b)

Natasha~
Hope you get an early start with your babies. Have you cosidered mulching them, so that you can continue to get a good harvest with less work, even after you return to work? I have seena lot of good threads about mulching here at DG.

You are so considerate, you will get some of each cherry tomato. They are both vines which take up a lot of space, more than bush varities. Just FYI.

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

Look at PDB for photos of my Purple Calabash - can't help it - I LOVE these guys! MS-5 is my very favorite Cherry tomato - large ,plump and oh-so sweet! I have several eggplant - I was thinking Italian White (3-4 inch round white) or Ichiban (long tender purple) .

LMK - I LOVE to trade!

Salem, NY(Zone 4b)

But I have plenty of:Tigerella (heirloom

Actually Tigerella is not an heirloom.

It's one of three varieties that came out of a cross between Aisla Craig and I forget the other parent, done by the Glasshouse Research Inst in England.

So the three stable OP's that resulted from that cross are:

Tigerella
Tangella, a fave of mine, but I have lots of faves
Craigella

OK, I'll go back to my cave now since I'm not a seed trader and kinda got in here by accident. LOL

Carolyn . who knows that Sequee knows that Carolyn cannot STAND Purple Calabash, LOL, nor Noire Des Cosebeauf, which are the only two varieties that do have a bit of purple coloring. Purple in tomato language really means pink, dating from the late 1800's. Noire is one of the most gorgeous tomatoes I've ever grown, out of about 1600 varieties grown, but taste was left at the front door. Sigh.

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

Interesting TomatoFest and Laurel both sell the Tangella and Tigerella as Heirlooms!

PS Carolyn - I thought the PC was one of the purples that you did like? Must have my tomato guru's mixed up! Thos is one of my top 4 tomato choices to date...I'm lagging a bit behind, though - have only grown about 30 varieties so far! This year I have 57-ish - how ever will I choose which to plant???

Salem, NY(Zone 4b)

Interesting TomatoFest and Laurel both sell the Tangella and Tigerella as Heirlooms!

W ell, Laurel and Gary are both wrong, what can I say?. LOL

I just responded to Laurel about something today and I'll tell her and she can tell Gary.

laurel should know better because she has a copy of my book where I mention about all three varieties and cite the source. I list just Tangella in my book as one of the featured 100. Tigerella is far too acerbic for me and splits with the morning dew or if you look at is sideways, at least in my experience.

Nope, not me and Purple Calabash: you must be thinking of someone else. Sure there are some folks who like it, not many, LOL, but some, but I'm not one of them.

Carolyn

Mirpur (A.K), Pakistan(Zone 9b)

You have mail.

Fritch, TX(Zone 6b)

Please don't get Carolyn started, yes, how did she wander in here LOL.

Carolyn, I remember you telling me they are incorrectly named Heirloom, but since seedsofchange puts "heirloom" on the packet and in the description, what is a poor seed trader like me to do? LOL

Sequee, working on that email

Gumlla, I didn't get the mail, I will look again.

Natasha, mailing your seeds tomorrow, one last chance if you want anythin gelse...

Tamara

Brandon, MS(Zone 8a)

I'm good to go - I'm excited to get anything! I never realized people collect tomatos - stamps and coins, or even daylilies, but not tomatos...;>)
