They're Back!!!!!!!

San Antonio, TX(Zone 9a)

Those hateful, mean, gluttonous green worms are back. When I went out to check my brugs this morning about 10 of them just had skeleton ribs for leaves. Grrrrrrr!

Yukon, OK(Zone 7b)

I feel for you Sylvia!!! I've been fighting them for about 3 or 4 weeks. And finally....Kell told me to spray with BT!!! Wooooohoooo....it worked! I'll be spraying again this Sunday!

Sylvia -- I feel for you! Whe I returned from NC, I had one 5' seedling that was loaded with buds, but every single leaf had been stripped off the plant. I thought it must've been a starved deer (they don't usually eat the brugs, but I just couldn't imagine), then I saw the darn green cat -- it was as big as a big man's finger! Humongous! I killed it -- ugh -- and have never seen another one since, and surely hope I don't!!! Good luck getting rid of them :) Gretchen

PS Did you get my e-mail???

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Gretchen, you mean you came to NC and didn't come to visit me? LOL

Sylvia, I have a few Brugs with lace for leaves where the cats eat them.

Next time, Ada -- I promise! I was visiting my parents at Mount Mitchell. How far are you from there? I think I've asked you that before, but can't remember what you told me...

San Antonio, TX(Zone 9a)

I haven't gotten a recent email Gretchen.

I found some also today. Right in front of me, in broad daylight they were chomping right down on my brug leaves. First I thought what a nerve and then I thought how stupid they were to do it right in front of my fingers, registered as 007 ones!!

Gretchen, I live about twenty miles north of Charlotte (Lowe's) Motor Speedway. You'll have to stop by sometime.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

You get 'em Kell. I have them too. Not bad yet but the BT is coming out soon. Just too hot right now.

Matthews, MO(Zone 6b)

Yes they are out with a vengence, I found four on one plant having a very "Good" dinner... I "niked" them with a size 9 1/2

Those feet of theirs should be marketed as the next best thing to superglue!!!!!

San Antonio, TX(Zone 9a)

Before this, green was one of my favorite colors. No more. I found more brugs eaten this morning. It is just so darn hot to get out and spray though. I hope they get food poisoning. LOL

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Just grab a hand sprayer Sylvia. Only spray where the leaves are eaten. I do not spray the entire brug. It just takes 1 bite for them to die. You do not have to drench the leaves at all.

I have to do it again also, I was looking way up my Golden Lady and saw lots of holes. They must have been feasting up there for days and I had no clue!

It's amazing how much those little critters can eat.

They are evil! I just got back from out of town last night - this morning my poor Becca Lynn looked like this:

Here's one up close. They seem to have a special fondness for Becca Lynn. Cypress Gardens is on one side of BL and Jean Pasco is on the other; both of them are almost free of insects. I did lose a few buds on Cypress Gardens to cucumber beetles though.

Amazing how much destruction worms can do in a garden. You look and everything is so beautiful, then next day you go out and they have taken over the place.

Tom, I have one that looks just like yours.

Houston, TX(Zone 9b)

I have found an unusual ally in my garden. Wasps. Mostly the large red hornets. It's almost funny, but every day I go out in the garden and see the wasps 'hunting'. They are scouring my plants looking for cats (and prolly other insects, too). It took me a little while to figure out what they were doing, but it finally dawned on me. I have a new respect for them now. I still have to pick off some cats, but the wasps seem to be doing a fairly good job!

Brundidge, AL(Zone 8b)

oh how sad that becca lynn looks so bad, I have these worms also.

Matthews, MO(Zone 6b)

Carter any chance you can send them up this way? Willing to pay postage if you get them in the box!!! hehehe The only thing I see try to help me is the occasional bird visiting, but the kitty-cat trys to take care of them!

Tracey, your cat is a chubwub like mine. Considering both cats found us, they sure picked the right house! Good eats.

Kell she is so spoiled! She loves yogurt, it is her favorite treat! Is this Gabby, beautiful!!! Maggie does this too, if I am working at the desk she is right in the big middle!

San Antonio, TX(Zone 9a)

Boy, today nearly every brug I have is chewed to pieces. They haven't discriminated against a single one. They are equal opportunity worms. Also, they are so hard to see, because they blend in perfectly with the leaves and are always on the backside of the leaf. Guess I'm off to Lowe's for some BT. Of course, I've been saying that for 2 weeks and have only been to Lowe's about 10 times. I get engrossed in looking at the plants and forget the important stuff. LOL

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

It will stop them dead Sylvia!

Yes Tracey, that is my Gabby. God, I love that cat. She is with me right now. Purring up a storm. She lets me have fat belly all the time. Rub rub rub.

Maggie is so beautiful. She looks like she has that thick fur also. Gabby is a shedding machine.
