Geoff,

We have a report that your red blooming plants should be in the Crassula perfoliata subsp. coccinea entry here http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/194604/

Supposedly Crassula perfoliata var. perfoliata and Crassula perfoliata only have white blooms.

What are your thoughts on this?

Thanks,
Joan

i guess so, though do you have any photos of this variety showing the white flowers? i have never seen a white-flowering crassula perfoliata.

No, I don't, and I won't move the photos until you have a chance to research it. I don't know anything about this plant.

Here's what was sent to us, and the links have photos attached. Maybe this will help you figure it out.

Crassula perfoliata subsp. perfoliata has only white flowers. You can check here: http://crassulaceae.net/crassula/85-photos/565-crassula-perf... and here: http://www.plantzafrica.com/plantcd/crassulaperfmin.htm

Hi Geoff,

What do you think? Were you able to determine if the photos should be moved?

Sure, move them... I just cannot find anything about the white flowering types.

Let me see if I can find anything else first. I'm not sure I'm convinced either.

I was able to find this here http://www.plantzafrica.com/plantcd/crassulaperfmin.htm I missed it the first time:

Quoting:
The var. perfoliata (from the eastern Nama Karoo) is up to 1.3 m tall with erect lance-shaped channelled leaves and white flowers 3-4 mm long. It flowers from spring to summer. The var. coccinea is confined to the coast between Port Elizabeth and King William's Town. It is up to 1.5 m tall with spreading green leaves and red flowers up to 7 mm long (summer flowering).
