Thanks. I am sure that my mandevillas would be much happier in Lakeland, FL and so would I. LOL. I am near Memphis, TN and I am working to prepare them for winter months.

It's been a long winter and I am happy to report that my pink mandevilla made it through the winter in my house. I used a 3 tiered post lamp with grow bulbs and window light. It did lose all of its leaves a month ago and I thought I lost it, but it must have went dormant. I didn't water it too much while inside either. About 2 weeks ago a small green shoot came out from the base and it is now about 4 inches tall and doing great. I have it back outside now. It is very happy to be out in the sun again I am sure.

I've just purchased two Alice duPont mandevillas (on sale, end of season!), but it may not have been a wise buy. I'm in Zone 8b (Tallahassee) and although our winters are steadily warming, it may be too much to expect them to overwinter in the ground. I plan to try an idea this winter that I found in Fine Gardening: construct a burlap 'cage' about 18 inches high around the vines and fill it with dried leaves. Maybe that will allow them to survive. I'll let you know next spring. Also, since our summers are wicked hot, I'm hoping they will tolerate partial sun instead of full sun. BTW, I love DG!
