Canna Striped Beauty

hiram, GA(Zone 7b)

This little escape artist has jumped it's rock border and hubby is weedeating it down. I have two small babies that need a new home. Fast spreader, and gorgeous yellow flower! Only gets about 2' tall, and foliage is great. Looking for dark foliage named canna, named daylily, rooted butterfly bush, echinnacea....or sunloving perrennial. Both babies go in one trade, but might be able to find another one if something cool comes up. Shipping on August 6th.

I may already have this canna – it came in an unlabelled pot, but the new foliage looks like Striped Bty... But, I wouldn’t mind having a confirming plant. I have a black-leafed red that I might be able to remember the name of and Tropicanna and banana-leafed canna, and some others. I have Black Knight, Summer Beauty and variegated Black Knight butterfly bushes, but I would have to start cuttings for you. I have plenty of echinaceas – regular purpurea, white, and maybe a couple of others, like Bravado, Ruby Star. As a full sun perennial, I could probably divide out some eastern (northeastern?) blue aster. Any chance you have Bengal Tiger/Pretoria canna?

I think I have tropicanna! Isn't this the larger one with red/white stripes? I don't have the banana leafed one though. I'd love cuttings off of the vareigated butterfly bush. I have stuttgart, but it didn't produce the leaf colors like I thought it would.....I think it's because it's rootbound. Have you got the princess di canna yet? Well worth the slow-growing of this plant!!! Flowers look like watercolor paintings. I bought 29 different types of cannas this spring, and my 4-year old nephew took all the tags out..The striped beauty is so easy to recognize thought, that i know that one by heart. And it's the only dwarf with vareigated leaves that I have right now. I'm getting ready to go deadhead cannas again....I planted 49 rhizomes this spring, with single eyes, and already have probably quadriple that amount, and they are all blooming idiots, and have to deadhead to keep them blooming. Pink Beauty is also one you might want to look into. Mine is planted in a mound with Lenape, and it's such a cool contrast! Where there was 3 eyes between the two in April, there are now 10-12 stems. I am getting ready to start really moving the lot of them around, and separating the ones out that I can readily identify.

Tropicanna has all shades of fuchsia, orange, yellow, green, etc. I don't have Princess Di, but I've wanted it! I want anything with her name on it, but the canna is especially nice. I've heard complaints about Stuttgart, but I would still love to have. I have a weakness for interesting foliage.

I have Pink Beauty since last year, and I've always thought it would make a nice pairing with Lenape, but I have never seen them planted together.

I checked my echinaceas, and, in addition to purpurea and white (the name is something like Swann), I have little bits of Magnus and Ruby Star.

Write me, and we'll sort something out.
