One brug bed....

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

The brugs around here are closing in on me. This is a seedling bed. I'm guessing that about half or more have Y'd.

LOL! How many have you got in there Shirley? Looks a bit like Kell's church yard. You're brug farmers.

Matthews, MO(Zone 6b)

I will have to take a picture of mine as a group. One of the cold frames out back is full now. I still have few in greenhouse 5, those are the pictures Root posted. Shirley yours look great!

I want a brug bed! Waaaaaaaaah!
Those look great Shirley!

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

I don't have a brug bed either. I just have a hundred seedlings stuffed everywhere in my garden. Basic black grower pots are chic aren't they?

Matthews, MO(Zone 6b)

Very chic..

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

OK,why are yours so big and my seedlings soooo small???

HHHHMMMMMM?????

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

I think it's a conspiracy by the midwestern gardeners CC.

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

LOL! The seedlings look great. I dont have a brug bed either. Mine are tied to the gallows lol

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Nah, it's just lots of good rain water and seeds that had the potential to grow big like that. They have only been fertilized once with garden fertilizer. I might have put Osmocote in the planting holes.

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

I don't have a brug bed either ... it is black pot city around here. Maybe next year I will be able to plant around the yard!

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

Those special seedlings sure look great Shirley. Just wanted to let everyone know that I have a brug bed and mine do not look anywhere like Shirley's. Just too hot here. Creamsickle is holding up best of all in my heat here. Seedlings have just about stopped growing.

I have quite a variety of brugs and none of them hold up in daily close to 100 degree temps in part sun. I am very curious as to whether or not some of the new ones released or being released later can withstand what I call hot temps. 99% do not even set buds in this continuous heat. I would like to see this gene factored into hybridizing. We need more that withstand hot days and 85 degree nights.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I would even like some of those here in Iowa Frannie. Our temps have been in the 90's this summer for a few days with a heat index well over 100. I'm sure your temps have been much worse. Anyone who has temps over 85 could stand to have some really heat tolerant brugs.

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

I can send you some cool air in exchange of warmth. We are are supposed to drop down to 35 -37F. I couldnt believe it when I heard it in the news.

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

It is no real heat wave here. May have reached 70 today, damp. It had been raining since last night.

Rock Hill, SC(Zone 8a)

Brugie, do have problems with the bees crossing all those brugs? I always hear how ya'll are polinating your plants to get a new one. Just wondering and learning. George

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

George, so far I have had no trouble. I generally pollinate just as the flower is beginning to open and then if the bees are a problem I will use masking tape and close it up. One year I had a lot of pods on Maya out in the garden, but these days, bees are hard to find around here.

Ewing, KY(Zone 6a)

Shirley they look great. I don't have a brug bed either . They are just stuck in beds everywhere. Well I do have a big brug bed but the seedings are everywhere.

Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

They look wonderful Shirley!

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Monika, are you ever going to have summer over there this year? I'd like some of those cool temps, can send 90's in trade!

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Wish I could send you some 90 plus temperatures, Monika.

Matthews, MO(Zone 6b)

bump
