Tendrils to die for

Ellabell, GA(Zone 8a)

................By tiG................

I just can not believe how lucky I am to end up growing this seed out. It's tiG's PB x EP that went to the BGI seed bank and then to me.
I feel like I won the lotto!
This brug is so beautiful it takes my breath away, and I just feel like I had to show it to every brug lover out there.
(this is a flash photo so it's actually a bit darker than it looks)

Well, I can't help but to wonder if this isn't the perfect pink brug. Congratulation to you and tiG.

Dang Kris! All those seedlings and you get mostly colors, and mostly beauties, I think you are extremely lucky! It is truely beautiful, how's the scent? Please post some more pics, it looks like a big bloom, is it?

Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

Those are lovely trendils.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

The tendrils are certainly to die for, Kris! So cute and curly!!

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Beautiful! You lucky girl......all I get from seeds is white brugs, short tendrils.

Ellabell, GA(Zone 8a)

Vi it has a very strong scent, it smells a lot like PB.
So far it has put up with two days of mid ninety degree weather with flying colors.
It looks just as good now as it did the first morning.
This photo was taken this morning just as it started to get light.

Hibiscus, I have no idea why I would get so lucky all of a sudden. I have 17 seedlings that bloomed so far and only three are white.
This is the fourth one of this cross to open and all of them are pink.
I even got three pinks out of a yellow/orange cross.

Ellabell, GA(Zone 8a)

Thanks for all the compliments, this one really is special. It went through some nice color changes as it was opening, I'll post some of those photos later tonight when I'm done dragging the hose around.
I guess y'all will have to explain to a Swede what a Curly Que is. I have never heard of that.

Kris, I sent you some M Magic pollen today to put on her.

Ellabell, GA(Zone 8a)

Here's the color changes of this brug as it opens.
After the tight yellow bud starts to open it is white.

Thanks for sending the pollen tiG! I'll do my best to put a pod or two on her.
Vi, thanks for the explanation. Has that expression been used for something in particular. The word itself doesn't really do anything for me.

Barnesville, GA(Zone 8a)

Gee Kris, sorry to mess up your posting, she is a beauty, but if she stays that way, I think she deserves a beautiful name, not just a cute one, (it doesn't do anything for me either!)

I believe the word was used to descibe flourishes such as in fanciful writing, (like young girls doodling hearts) wrought iron work, and gingerbread trim.

Barnesville, GA(Zone 8a)

Kris, you never did answer about the size of her, is she the size of PB?

Medford, NJ(Zone 6b)

Everytime I see this plant it makes me smile. Those curly tendrils are a hoot. It's a beauty.

The Heart of Texas, TX(Zone 8b)

What a beauty! Be sure to post this ones name I think I will add it to my ever growing list...

RICHMOND, VA(Zone 7b)

Your breedings are showing up as spectacular; such fun to see!

Ellabell, GA(Zone 8a)

Sorry Vi, The first flower opened up as a six-pointer. About 80% of my seedlings has done that and then put out regular five-pointers after that. The first flower then ends up being larger. I'm going to give you the measurments of this one but I expect it to be a bit smaller in the future.

The lenght of it including the calyx is 16", the diameter is 8.5". It was huge!

It did good with the GA heat. It has been in the mid 90's all week and sunny. Despite that it sprung back to shape for four days. It was okay this morning but has now given up.

There's 8 more buds out there so it shouldn't be too long before I have a flush on it.

I can't wait to see if it keeps it up.

Moscow, TN(Zone 7a)

That is a beautiful flower. I am kind of a lurker here but this has to the best US cross I have seen so far. Good job PL and tiG.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Hi Loretta. No need to lurk, just jump right in. Nice tendrils on this one.

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

Speaking of a flush, is there a certain number of blooms required for a flush?? I've had several plants that have only had one or two blossoms - would that be a flush?

Marshfield, MO(Zone 6a)

I love this one, Kris, great tendrils and color.

The Heart of Texas, TX(Zone 8b)

I had to come back and get another look at this one...I sure love her look. I think if I could only grow one brug this one would be it for me...she's pink, she has those elegant tendrils and she likes the heat...what a brug! Way to go girls.:)

Raleigh, NC(Zone 7b)

I just love those crazy tendrils! Please post more pictures when it blooms again. I sure hope it will retain that form.
