Passion flowers and more to trade...

Navarre (NW FL), FL(Zone 8b)

I hope I don't kick myself later for posting this. As most of you know, trading can be overwhelming at times so please be patient.

I have these available for trades mainly in the form of rooted cuttings. What is listed is (for the most part) in rooting cubes to facilitate shipping. These are rooted and ready to go now. In an effort to keep some organization I ask that all trade requests be posted here. I may be able to do SASE once trades are complete on anything that maybe left in the end.

Passion flowers;
P. nigradenia
P. antioquiensis
P. 'Blue Bouquet'
P. X kewensis
P. serrato-Digitata
P. trifisciata
P. yucatanensis
P. amethystina
P. allantophylla
P. 'Blaumilch'
P. boenderii
P. 'Purple Haze'
P. 'Minas Gerais'
P. manicata
P. cincinnata
P. trisecta
P. rubra
P. 'Constance Eliott'
P. serratifolia
P. tulae
P. 'Lavender Lady'
P. aurantia
P. mooreana
P. 'Clear Sky'
P. 'Lady Margaret'
P. foetida
P. ambigua

Other plants I have available also as rooted cuttings are;
Mystery Gardenia
August Beauty Gardenia
St. Michael Gardenia
Klein's Hardy Daisy Gardenia
Veitchi Gardenia
Thumbergia battescombei
Allamanda cathartica 'Cherries Jubilee'
Allamanda cathartica 'Hendersonii'
Will also have another 15 or so passion flower to add later.

Named plants that I'm looking for;
Tropical hibiscus
Passion flowers (not on my DG trade list)
Allamandas besides Neriifolia and any listed above
Irises
Gardenias
Thunbergia mysorenesis
Thunbergia coccinea (especially looking for this one)
Oleander double - Any and all colors
Dwarf - all colors
Single Oleander- super dark red, peach, and yellow.
Please do tempt me with anything unusual, tropical and rare not on my list.

Like probably most of you, I find shipping charges and the packing process to be somewhat of a drag. For this reason, trades consisting of multiple items get preference.

And for an insanely long and detailed list of things I'm looking for please follow this link. I can also be e-mailed through this link. You will find the list of "wanted items" on the right side of the page.

Thank you all for reading.

Good heavens, Hugo. I had no idea you had so may passis. You have a bunch I dont have. Wow, if you have any left overs I would love em.

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

Darn Hugo I wish you had posted this list before we met you in ALA. I have a few of things you want rooted and could have brought cuttings of others. Also hope to have seeds from some of these by fall. Will e-mail later

Niceville, FL(Zone 8b)

Hey Hugo, I can bring you the following tropical hibiscus cuttings when we meet again if you are interested: country music, Amour, and "the clown" . This is Amour. I also have several tropical unnamed that I can send pics of if you are interested. I can bring cuttings or get them started rooting.

I'm curious if you would be interested in hoya vines for trade? I would really like to try some passifloras this year, and since I've moved to Z8b/9a I think I'll have better luck here than in Z6. PLMK, thanks,
Raven

Donna,
I hope we can still arrange a trade. I would have posted this earlier but I thought I just had way to much going with the other plant trades. I would like to come out to visit sometime (if it works with you). Maybe if I do come over we can do a mini trade there. I would love to come out there and see you and Delphiniumdiva. Oh, and I can't forget... I would love to see the horseshoe crabs in the wild and alive. Another meeting possibility is at one of the RUs. I plan on going to atleast another in this region and then the KYRU (but we'll see how that goes.)

Lisa,
I would certainly be interested in the hibiscus you mentioned. Cut away and get them rooting. I would be thrilled to trade with you. And yes, any left you can pick from. I plan on taking the excess to one of the RUs.

Raven,
I definately would be interested in hoyas but I'm looking for certain ones so maybe you could send me a list of what you have available. Instead maybe I should say that I would like to avoid the most commons (for lack of space here more than anything else). I would be very new to hoyas so maybe you can direct me in this a bit. I believe that your new zone would be ideal for passion flowers. You might have to look out or avoid the cool climate ones or baby them a bit. Speaking of zones, you might want to update your info. I see your old zone still but maybe you only just moved.

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

Hugo you are welcome to come anytime you like. Drag Trish and Lisa with you when you do lol.Yall can make a day trip. If on a Sat. or Sun and DH is not working he will probably take us out to the Islands for a few hours. You can raid the yard for fresh cuttings. Yes we can still trade. I was just saying I could have brought fresh cuttings with me. I'm not the worlds greatest at rooting things. The only days I know I'm not available is Aug 17th(going to visit Kay in Poplarville) and the whole week of the 22nd. MIL and boy friend coming. FIL may come this weekend but he has been calling and saying he was coming for 3 months now lol. Just give me a little advance notice

Birmingham, AL(Zone 8a)

OK Bug, I won't tempt you with any other tropicals, like Talinum panniculatum variegata (Var.Jewels of Opar), Syngonium podophyllum "Bob White", Chlorophytum "Mandarin", Barleria cristata, Medinilla magnifica, Chrysothemis pulchella "Black Flamingo", Narrow Leaf False Cardomom, Cestrum elegans, Kong coleus, Eranthemum pulchellum, Clerodendrum indicum, Piper Auritum or anything like that. I wouldn't want to tempt you, oh no. That wouldn't be nice.

But I do have Blue Ginger and Thunbergia Grandiflora already rooted. I also believe I may have one of the Solanums that is on your list but I have to look it up. I have a cutting of Tibouchina Grandifolia that I might be persuaded to part with. I am interested, as I think you already know, in Cherries Jubilee. I am also looking for any passis with really large blooms, other than Lav.Lady which I already have. I especially like light blue, like "Incense" and also "Elizabeth." I have to look up the gardenias on your list - I am looking for the one with the daisy-like blooms and possibly some others.

You are welcome to visit but please don't have that look on your face that Moodene had when she saw my pitiful yard. She actually half raised the camera and then sort of put it down. (jk Moo -you have 15 acres so I understand) I do the best I can with a bad neck and 1/4 acre, OK! And we have BUGS here - unlike you crazy people who grow tropicals when they don't belong! I dare Eclipse to bring his gorgeous cannas down here for a weekend to visit our caterpillars - they would look like lace! I never should have started that Show Us Your Yard thread - what was I thinking???

Whew - I feel better after that rant. BugFreak you know what I mean, I'm sure. You are welcome to visit like I said but be sure to bring your best fake smiley face. You can see some real big caterpillars "in the wild and alive!" It is August and I refuse to weed any more. We can just sit inside and drink iced tea and look at Eclipse's and TomTom's pictures and drool all over them.

Rylaff - as long as you are rooting that hibiscus I would like one. I think its really Nice. :)

Niceville, FL(Zone 8b)

It is pretty and one of my favorite.

Navarre (NW FL), FL(Zone 8b)

Delph,
You have some really interesting plants. You had me googling all day looking for pictures of the plants you listed. There were a couple that I couldn't find pictures of online. I can't wait to do our trade.

Tulsa, OK

If you have a passion flower rooting when this is over I would love it for SASE as I do not have anything you want for trade! I really would like anything that ISN't pink!! That is all we can get here in OK.

Navarre (NW FL), FL(Zone 8b)

I'll keep you in mind deda1 once this comes closer to an end. As you probably already know, there are many here that aren't pink. Thanks for your interest.

Kingston, OK(Zone 7a)

This is my second year into gardening and would like any color if you have some left at the end of this thread. Tried one and it failed. Wanting to try again. SASE

Navarre (NW FL), FL(Zone 8b)

TARogers,
Incarnata should be one of the hardier ones. It's native to the US. I'll have plenty of that one in a bit (I think rooting is going well). The blooms are a lighter shade of blue. I'll let you know when they are ready.

Do you think I would have any luck over-wintering a Passi in my heated sunroom? Our ground freezes in my Zone 7a and I would love to try and grow one through the winter.

I have named Irises to tempt you with.

Navarre (NW FL), FL(Zone 8b)

I'm sure it would be fine in the sunroom. Depending ont he species or hybrid most will survive temps down in the 40's. If you provide subtle bottom heat they would be even happier. I would be interested in seeing what you have.

Ellicott City, MD(Zone 7a)

Thanks for the info, BugFreak. I have to go out to the garden and read the label before it gets dark! I'll let you know....stay tuned! :~)

Ellicott City, MD(Zone 7a)

Okay, I went to the garden and pulled the plant marker out of the mulch to read the variety of Passi that I have. It is P. Caerulea.

I also surfed the Web in the meantime & found out that this variety is rated for zones 8-11. Well......that's never stopped me before. Soooo, at the end of October, I'll dig up my P. Caerulea and try overwintering it in my heated sunroon. Were there is a will....there is a way!

Woo Hoo......I actually have a Passi that's not on your trade list!!!! Are you interested? PLMK.

Jackson, SC(Zone 8a)

if any left for sase let me know. any color is fine with me. thanks Marie

Wilmington, DE(Zone 7b)

I haven't anything from your "wanted" list, but if you have any blue passionflower (the deeper color the better), or purple, I can SASE or Paypal, or mail a check. While you're at it, I'd love some of your yellow Mandevilla. Our most revered local plant seller claimed they didn't exist in yellow, even 'tho I'd seen some locally - it amazes me how little some so-called nursery people know.

I'm in zone 7, but overwinter Mandevilla and passion flower indoors. I think some passionflower will tolerate zone 6, and I have a microzone of 6, so if you have any of those, I could keep it outside.

Thanks!

Longview, TX

I don't have anything you want but would love seeds or even where all these passionflora can be found. I have a love for the passionflora but can't find place to get your help would be appreicated.

Thanks!

Seymour, IN(Zone 5b)

If you any left for SASE, let me know. I will take whatever color you have and overwinter the first year, then they usually are ok here in zone 6. Thanks, Lou

Navarre (NW FL), FL(Zone 8b)

Shirley,
I have to look but I believe I may have caerulea. Maybe I failed to put it on my list. I'll check and let you know.

I agree though. Where there is a will there IS a way. A lot of my passion flowers are not hardy in my zone either so I'll be bringing them inside for the winter too. One of the hardiest ones is incarnata (which I should have plenty of).

Short,
Yellow mandevilla has been a long time favorite of mine. Actually just about any mandevilla. Oh yes, yellow very much exists. I have found that a lot of times it takes people like us to educate the local nurseries. They tend to get so caught up in what they have that they forget what else is out there. Not all of them though.

BK,
Seeds are going to be tough. I keep cutting my vines back so I don't know if they will fruit. There are some though that have started producing fruit and I just don't have it in me to hack the fruit off. I may just leave it to develope. I just don't know if this fruit will be pure or if it will be crossed.

dispatcher,
Very artistic aren't you. I like those rocks. I especially like the bulldog. Nice job.

Birmingham, AL(Zone 8a)

Bug - check this out (doing the happy plant dance!)http://davesgarden.com/t/447982/

Navarre (NW FL), FL(Zone 8b)

Delph,
That is awesome. I can't wait to see that one in person (if I ever do make it your way). I love that color.
