Monarch Emerged Today

Pinellas Park, FL(Zone 9b)

I have had 4 monarch cats in an aquarium with screen cover.
3 had formed their chrysalis and the 4th is ready.
My son called to say the 1st one emerged today. Problem is I'm at work and will be going to the gym afterwards and won't be home till 6pm. I don't have any nectar plants in the aquarium so I wondered how long the monarchs can go without food/water after emerging. I had my son release him near the duranta/firebushes rather than chance it starving before I get home.

I had a Monarch in my backyard the other day. It was pumping it's wings up and warming up on my trellis. You can see the movement of the wings. What do they eat? I don't have milkweed growing.

That's an amazing stop action shot of the butterfly with wing moving.
Budgie, did you get pics of the rest of them hatching out? -Blooms

No, Not yet. The others are several days behind so I am hoping to see one this weekend. If I do, I'll get some pics.
