I'm very much enjoying my first brug...Bill is ready to gag me. But I have a question. It only opens full in the late evening or after dark and by morning starts to close and then opens full again that night. Is this the normal way they bloom or is it just that it's been so hot? or do different brugs bloom differently?
A question
Very normal! good looking Brug!
Thanks...any idea "who" it is? I got it from Sugar_fl at the swap. It was labled unnamed and she thought it was going to be white.
It is a Multihybrid with much suaveolens influence Ginger. But I dont know the name of it. But it doesnt have to have a name, more important is a beautiful flower.

Pretty one Ginger. Your plant really looks healthy.
too cute......
Thanks ya'll. I have more buds comming and will try to get a decent pic of her full open to post.
Ginger, most brugs only open fully at night because they are pollinated by night-flying hawkmoths. Nighttime is also when they release most of their fragrance (also to attract pollinators). The flowers will open a bit more in the daytime if the weather is cool and cloudy. Extremely hot weather can be bad because the edges of the flowers can get fried during the day, especially if they're in full sun in the afternoon.
You have a nice-looking plant there. Even if it has a name it is likely no one can tell for sure because there are a lot of similar-looking pink ones out there. I also have a pink multihybrid that remains anonymous - it has longer tendrils but lighter color than yours. I keep it because it's trouble-free and a good bloomer. Enjoy your brug!
