Anyone have any experience with datura blooms just dropping off before they open?? I have had two do it in the last week, and I opened up one, and it certainly had the beginnigns of a flower, but just fell off. We haven't had much for wind, so dont' know if I am overwatering or doing something wrong. It is a double yellow that aI started from seed this spring, and is about 2 feet high and is growing well, and has probably about 8 blooms on it. The largest one is still hanging in there so hope it stays.

Datura Bloom Drop???

I am not sure glenda, i grew some last year, and all mine didn't do any thing this year, but i have had brug blooms do this this year. i felt like it was no rain, but if you are watering maybe it needs some kind of ammnedment it isn't getting or just is being stubborn. maybe one of our datura experts will come along soon and answer you sometimes they get bust in the garden and do not browse for a few days don't give up on your answer
Glenda, I too am having a huge bud drop, but on my brug CDW. I have over 25 flowers just starting to open, and lots of buds. For last few days, I've been picking up at least 6-10 buds, and yesterday I picked up 8 partially opened flowers. I've bee watering and feeding like I have all season, so I think the heat we've been having is the blame for mine. The CDW certainly doesn't lke the heat. I hope it' something as simple as the heat for your as well.
We should meet, as we're really just down the road from each other.

Well, nothing more has dropped so hopefully it is done!! The largest one is just starting to open up at the end and I can see something coming inside. Very Exciting, considering I have never grown a dat before and had no idea what to expect!!
I haven't had any brug blooms drop off. Have many to come, as you do, so hoping for a great show of flowers.

Where do you live? I am out close to the ferry terminal. Don't come into town that often, but I am always up for coffee at Starbucks!!!
