This seedling has to prove itself

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

This seedling has to prove itself, if it is worth keeping. It is a double and it had flowered last year late in November. I was not very satisfied with the look of the bloom.

What didn't you like about it?

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

It proved itself to me, I'd sure keep it.

I see some discoloration on the bud on the right. Is that what you are watching or is that a lighting thing when you took the picture?

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

The color is White but not all flowers have a nice shape.
The skirt of the flower on the right side has come to far out. The flower is open today but doesnt look very pretty. I will post a picture of it tomorrow.

Species sometimes does that too.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

I think it is pretty good! Does the inside brown out like CDW?

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

The inside does not turn brown and the flowers seems to hold quite good in the sun and wind.

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

I did not realize that the inner part dropping too far was a flaw. I leaned something new today. I am always learning from you Monika. Blue sky in background sure makes it look pretty. I hope it proves itself for you. I think it is very pretty.

Nanny, the background, what looks like a blue sky, was in reality a dark cloud. It was a severe thunderstorm with masses of rain, hail and storm, which flooded Mainz, Frankfurt and other cities. Snow plows had to remove 2ft of hail from the main roads.

I was wondering about the skirt on the right,it did seem like it separated early.

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

Some of the flowers have a nice skirt, other look like the one on the right. But the flowers are quite sturdy. It has surprised me.

I wonder if I'll ever be able to cull like Monika? I'm getting ready to thin some out of the beds, have to make room for seedlings to grow and bloom.

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

Monika, looks like they survived the hail storm. I like them, they must be survivors. Hope you have a good summer and develop some new strains. cheers!!

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

I hope so pebble. Cheers to you too

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

Pebble, have you been to see Monika yet?

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

Liz, no I have not, hoping maybe in the fall. I am working for a real estate company here in bodrum selling summer villas to the English people and I am so swamped....But I am planning to do some travelling in the fall and winter. I am going to Ireland and England in September, so maybe in October November I might make a trip to Germany. And I hope to get together with Monika then.
